IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Always a fun list to scan through. Thanks for sharing each year. Nitpick -- I think something is missing in the "Yrs" column. Only 9 for Killebrew and 13 for Mauer? Part of the fun of lists like this is the names from the past that come out. I referenced Paul Thormodsgaard in a post a week or so ago, for example. Or to see how folks stack up in various categories. For example, unless there are other errors in the years column, if Kepler appears next year, there will only have been 13 other guys to have appeared in more than his eight seasons. Wow!
RpR Verified Member Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Interesting, good to see Lenny Green as high as he is.
Nate Tubbs Rules Verified Member Posted October 12, 2022 Author Posted October 12, 2022 Yrs is a little confusing as it only refers to "years as a starter" not years. Each season there are 10 positions players (or 9 prior to 1973) that play the most at each position plus 5 starting pitchers and a closer. Harmon had some seasons where he was injuried or bounced around the field a bit to not lead the team in any one position. It's also why middle relief pitchers like Rincon, Buerenger, and Guerrier show a "0" in YRs.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 62 seasons of Twins baseball, and as he has for the past dozen years, Chris T updates his Top 300 Twins player rankings. Who dropped out? Who jumped into the Top 300? How high did Carlos Correa in his one season get on the list? Which current Twins player ranks highest? Second highest. Definitely check out this link. It's fun to think about the rankings, read through the various updates, and ultimately just think back about the various players throughout the list. https://wgom.org/2022/10/12/top-300-minnesota-twins-of-all-time-updated-through-2022/
