DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 With the Twins looking like they have a prayer to stick around for a bit, why not give old Jim Thome a call and have him fill out the bench?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Who do you cut? Look, the early start is nice, but they really need to see what Hicks and Arcia can do up here, imo. I guess one less MIF would be ok with me.....but I just don't see it happening.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I'd probably take Thome over Wilkin Ramirez right now, unless the Twins think Ramirez is a legitimate CF backup. That said, if it was going to happen, I think it would have happened by now. For whatever reason, I think Thome is done.
StormJH1 Verified Member Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I just have zero interest in this. It's like the people who get worked up over Jamey Carroll not playing. Omar Vizquel got some run with Toronto as a 45-year-old last year, but he's also one of the best defensive infielders of all time. People throw out the "what could it hurt?" argument, but if "one extra guy" stops the Twins from potentially "discovering" a young player they didn't expect to be ready (like Span in '08...or maayyyyybe Arcia in '13), then yes, it can do a lot of harm!
Quentin Young Fort Myers Mighty Mussels - A SS/3B The Young infielders knocked his 11th home run of the season on Wednesday morning. It accounted for three of his four RBI in the game. Explore Quentin Young News >
