Really excited about this kid. Long term is he projected to start?

Did not do well in minors as a starter, much better after he was switched to relief. Unless Twins get desperate, do not expect they will send him down next year to change him back

There was an excellent article on here about why Pressly has a good chance of going from an uninspiring SP'ing prospect to a successful MLB RP'er. I think the summary was that his fastball would get a nice bump from the move and he wouldn't need to use his change as much (or ever).

 

Right now I would consider it a big win if Pressly became a Matt Guerrier 7th inning type and I hope they don't move him back and forth between the rotation and bullpen.

The Twins took the safest closest thing to a "sure thing" at their position in the Rule 5 draft. Although I wish the Twins would have gambled on a bigger risk, I have even higher hopes for Pressly than Matt Guerrier, he appears to have better stuff than Jesse Crain, if we can get 6 years before free agency of vintage Crain and an ERA+ of 140, he could comfortably slide into the Burton role eventually.

I would say it's too early to get excited. We have to be patient with him. He looks to me like the next Anthony Swarzak/Brain Duensing (aka guy who can't start but can relieve fine).
