Feel bad for Scott if it's something serious (and I did want him back for the money they got him for), but....dodged a bullet maybe?

Scott Baker getting MRI on sore right elbow

Scott Baker woke up with elbow soreness Monday after his Cactus League debut and will undergo an MRI.

Baker had Tommy John surgery last year and the Cubs want to be sure that he didn't aggravate anything. The right-hander is currently aiming to join Chicago's starting rotation in mid-April, but that could change.

I saw the headline and assumed this was an old thread from last year that had been re-promoted. Ugh. What a drag for Baker.

What's really sad is that I don't think people realize just how good this guy actually is. He doesn't blow people away with huge velocity or K/9 ratios, but in the rare times where he wasn't hurt or in the process of getting hurt or recovering from an injury, he was always a very solid pitcher. His elite control and decent-enough strikeout abilities could have given him a Tim Hudson-like career, but in most people's minds, he's just another guy that couldn't stay healthy.

Too bad, because other than Santana and Liriano (neither of which we drafted), he's the best pitcher I can think of to be developed out of our system in the last 10 years.

He's not better than Matt Garza.
