Cleveland's Progressive Field opened in 1994, one of the first wave of new ballparks in MLB, and fueled a dynasty that dominated the AL Central throughout the 90s. The only time I'd visited was shortly thereafter, so I'm way past due to see it again. I found a great park, especially impressive given its age. Want to visit with me? Great. Let's see what we find

John and Chrissie will be visiting a few other ballparks over the next week or two, so follow them on Twitter at @TwinsGeek and @ChrissieTVOR.

Great article, Thank You!

Interestingly, I went to 2 games at Progressive Field this year (I live in Pittsburgh, so Cleveland is the only convenient place to watch the Twins). I too enjoyed everything about the ballpark. My seats were up high, but I got a decent skyline view from up there.

If you go back, don't miss the Jim Thome statue. If you didn't see it, it's located at the center field entrance (after you enter the ballpark). If you like BBQ, there is a good place on the first level (around the place you mentioned) to get BBQ sandwiches and BBQ *Insert Meat Here* Mac & Cheese. They have a variety of beer that I do not recall seeing in other ballparks.

JR and I were there maybe 10 years ago, or a bit longer.  Kind of in between your visits.  Enjoyed the ballpark and downtown Cleveland.

Remember staying at the Marriott where the Twins were also at.  The one thing I recall is having breakfast a few tables from Scott Baker and his wife.  Remember she was visibly upset about something.  Also recall a nice restaurant area several blocks west of the Marriott.

Didn't do any of the fun things you do first time in Cleveland, rock and roll hall of fame, sub, etc.  We did those while passing thru every fall when taking JR to BC.  Just enjoyed the games and hung out talking about father/son stuff.
