Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Here ends the 2018 season. All efforts should now be directed toward making 2019 as good as possible. I am quite optimistic about next season for many reasons, and I know I'm not alone.

If he’s still around on the 30th, I suspect he’ll get more than the usual applause. I suspect he got that on the homestand going into the break as well.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Ok, sell, but what are people hoping for? Honest question. Another Tyler Watson type? Bonus money we will not spend? (I'm sure Watson is a terrific guy.)I think my position is pretty close to chief's. Though I understand he will probably be traded, I think I would rather watch Dozier the whole year, let him have a curtain call late in September (heck I might even attend such a game in person to applaud him) than have him shipped off suddenly on the 31st. How about another Escobar? If we even land one player like that it'd be nice. There will be plenty to root for the last few months, including the return of Buxton and Sano. Hopefully we'll see some Gordon, Wade, Romero, Gonsalves, or others. There will always be reasons to be a fan, but this season is lost. Sell and get as many lottery tickets as you can for guys like Lynn, Reed, Rodney, Duke, etc. Sell for the best offer on Esco and Dozier. Explore if someone will knock your socks off for Gibson. We don't have to get a mind-blowing return for it to benefit our fandom going forward. I doubt anyone here was jumping up and down about getting Escobar, but we whooped the White Sox in that trade and it has helped lead to more wins for our team. Let's hope we can land a few more guys to help for yearsto come. Hosken Bombo Disco 1

I have some doubts on the likelihood of that, but we'll see.

We might get nothing for selling in the end. Key word is might. If we do nothing and hold on to these players we are guaranteed to get nothing.
