Astudillo observation that Belisle's an answer

I know this has been bemoaned repeatedly this summer but I just can't get my head around why the Twins continue to expose young arms...arms that we've seen on prospect lists...to DFA-land when it is "fairly" certain that a older relief pitcher that has, how should I put it, had a bad year so far could be DFA'd without subjecting Jorge to being claimed...don't get it

Yeah come on it makes total sense, why have a controllable 24 year old starter with a lower ceiling but higher floor when you could have a 38 year old reliever that a team with a bad bullpen just released this year...yep total sense

They did play 13 innings yesterday. It's unlikely they'd send down an arm that didn't pitch in that game. Come Saturday when they make another move, however.

 

(And then Jorge will probably be somewhere else as a result.)

They’re going to need another 40 man spot for Polanco. Belisle needs to go - I’d much rather have Jorge on the roster.

Wish they'd take a hint from the Mariners...if you want to keep a guy around to show the youngsters how to do things then make him a front office ambassador...might not get to wear the full uni each night but can be around to provide whatever it is they think he provides...

 

Oh and when you pick the guy to do that...make it a future HOF'r

Yeah, I assumed that would be Motter getting DFA'd for Polanco, but this DL move precludes that.
