Not sure how this trade impacts the Central this year but thought I'd put it up.

Via email:

The White Sox, Kansas City and L.A. Dodgers have completed a three-team, five-player trade, with the Sox acquiring LHP Luis Avilán, RHP Joakim Soria and cash considerations from the Dodgers in exchange for minor-league INF Jake Peter. The Dodgers acquired Soria and LHP Scott Alexander from K.C. in return for INF Erick Mejia and RHP Trevor Oaks.

Soria is owed $9M plus incentives.  Avilan is on his 3rd arbitration year.  So they took about $12 or so million salary minus the cash ($1) they got.  I don't think that they had to give any players away, so it seems that they took salary.

Nutty trade for a rebuilding team, but that's the Sux

Seems like the Royals are trying to cut cost here to sign Hosmer

Sox will deal them at the deadline

This... they gave up a non prospect to pick up a couple guys with the hope that they can flip one or both at the deadline. Not a bad move.
