notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 For some reason Dusty felt the need to bring in a guy with a 5.88 ERA in Scherzer's spot after he gave up his first hit in the seventh inning with under 100 pitches. Now, the Cubs have tied the game (only after Maddon took out Quintana with his zero earned runs) and are threatening against Solis and now Kintzler. I think you would probably get better results if you just had an untrained chimp pick a lineup and starting pitcher and not make a single move the entire game.
drjim Provisional Member Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Starting Bauer on short rest seems like it was a bad idea.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 In fairness to Dusty Baker, Scherzer has been hurt recently and said himself that 100 pitches was his going to be his limit. Probably could have used some better relievers there though, although the go ahead run scored on a blooper.

And Salazar hadn't pitched in awhile and wasn't stretched out at all. Not a lot of great choices.

Scherzer was pretty much done and he didn't want a rhp against Schwarber.
