Yeah, I have to go with Grossman being the odd man out. It's really unfortunate because he's really done a good job with the bat and he's definitely a serviceable fielder.

No one is going to confuse Vargas for Doug Mientkiewicz, but he is adequate defensively. As long as he hits. Which he has not for the last month or so.

He's done well so far, all right. But I know we don't need 5 outfielders. (This counts Grossman as an outfielder.) Rosario has the highest BA on the team. Grossman has the highest OBP on the team. Buxton's defense and improving offense. Kepler's overall value. Is it time to trade one of them away?

 

It's always a consideration especially when you can acquire pitching with it. 

 

However, regardless... I have never been nor will ever be a starting lineup guy. Give me 25 guys who can play and have a manager who can figure it out so nobody collects dust on the bench. 

 

With the DH position and Kepler having the ability to play 1B as well. Keeping Granite will give you 7 guys who can produce for 5 positions. Rotate the players around with playing time augmented for the hot hands and you can make it work. 

 

The question is who do you pull off the 25 man to make room when Mauer comes back. 

 

That would be the guy that Molitor doesn't play.

Duffey is way overrated. Molitor just keeps sending him in close game which he obviously cannot handle right now. Well what do we know? They still keep Pressly and Belisle on the roster
