Well he got the ground ball......but Ehire couldn't "olé" it.

 

As a coach... I would play that video for infielders as an example of how not to do it.

Five innings, 4 Ernies, 4 BB's, 104 pitches.  That's not good, but it could have been sooooooo much worse if he had unraveled.

Defensive wizard? What did I miss?

 

When they signed him

 

I said "who is this guy?"

 

I started reading about him and the reports were "Defensive Wizard" 

 

I looked at his offensive stats and I said to myself "Must be" because he isn't an offensive powerhouse. 

 

Now I watch him at 3B reach for a ball he could have centered up and turned a double play on and cost us two runs and I'm questioning when I said to myself "Must be".

Wow, fiers was absolutely on the ropes in the first inning. 30 pitches. He's had 39 since. We know how to keep the pressure on, that's for sure.

Fiers is the guy who surrenders a home run an inning, correct?

I don't know, but he reportedly is the guy who was going to be removed from the rotation until about a day ago

Adrianaza should be given an ERA and get those tacked on to it.

Fiers is doing what Berrios needed to do, get ahead of the hitters.  He has thrown a 1st pitch strike to almost every batter since the 1st inning.

 

doesn't help that they all swing and miss it.

Fiers is doing what Berrios needed to do, get ahead of the hitters. He has thrown a 1st pitch strike to almost every batter since the 1st inning.
