This is a clear case of needing to move on up for more of a challenge. Future: Diaz should be in AA in 2018, and I can see him getting a chance in 2019 to replace Mauer on the Twins roster.
AZTwin Verified Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I was down on this guy early in his career. Didn't really produce in DSL or rookie league his first two years and was back in extended spring last year but he is really starting to come around. This is a kid that is still only 20 years old and could really shoot up the prospect list in the next year or two
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 Diaz has continued to mash at the plate: .292/.332/.514 (.845), 18/1/7, 11/29 in 199 PA. The low strikeouts are really encouraging here. Hopefully he gets promoted to get some extended work in high-A this year.
