This seems like a good time to put Butera in to catch to give Doumit a bit of rest, and to put Matstro in left field to let Willingham rest.

Heck.

But Butera in to pitch! :D

This lineup looks awesome. Sans 2B/SS/3B of course :)

Think of how deadly they could be once Plouffe comes back.

Revere with a real nice game.

This kid is really proving himself.

I actually dosed off there for awhile. Does that mean I'm old or just like a competitive game?

Been going back and forth between this cooking and the Olympics, love these type of games, can check in every 10-15 minutes and things keep getting better

Morneau's second home was a no-douter, fifteen rows up in right center on a very high, merely spinning curve. His eyes lit up. It was great.

Thats always been how you know Justin is locked in, you can see him get all google eyed when he sees the meatball. It might even be more like a puffer fish with the cheeks. I noticed him doing it a few weeks ago but just missing the pitch, I guess it may be a good indicator. He certainly wasn't doing it in June.

Bennie with his 4th 4 hit game of the year and will soon be 2nd in the batting race. This could be a fun final two months of the season.

I'm still left wondering what exactly it is (was) that the Twins' scouts see (saw) in Nishioka. Guys still looks like he's brand new to the game.

I think the quote was multiple eyes. So we can't just blame one guy.

Agreed. Tonight it looked like he had never seen a baseball before in his life.

With him hitting like he is, why the heck would he want to walk more?

While he is hitting out of his head right now, he should (and is capable) get his OBP up around .400 to take advantage of his speed on the base paths.

If Revere could learn to walk he could be a really really good lead off man.

It's hard to walk when pitchers are throwing you nothing but strikes.

There are two big reasons why Revere doesn't get many chances to walk.

1. Though he is improving overall, pitchers still aren't worried about giving up anything more than a single to him, his ISO this year is 0.060

2. Mauer, Willingham, Morneau and Doumit follow him in the lineup.

If he can somehow develop some power down the road I think he has a shot to pick up a few more walks, but at this point we should be satisfied with what we are getting out of Revere.

Seeing Morneau's eyes get big when he sees a hanger is one of my favorite things. I predict a big September if he's still here.

There should be no reason to trade Morneau whatsoever.

When he's healthy, he is our best player. And it looks like he is getting that back. Keep the top six hitters together (seven if you count Plouffe) and try to get a real SP or two and we might be able to make things interesting next year.

I agree with most of what you are saying. When he is healthy, I think he and Willingham are our best players, in the power game, anyway. Revere and Mauer beat both of them in average any day of the week. I agree that we should keep our best players together, but if we could clear the books of the money that Morneau is owed next year and know that Parmelee was ready to take over for him, on offense and defense, I would trade him in a heartbeat if I could get a decent MLB-pitcher for him. It would also give us $14 million to add onto the money already coming off the books this offseason, $14 million more we could spend on an ace pitcher for possibly competing in 2013, even.
