Starting Lineup Predictions

With the batting roster pretty much set what do you think the regular starting line up will look like?

1. Buxton CF

2. Dozier 2B

3. Mauer 1B

4. Sano RF

5. Plouffe 3B

6. Park DH

7. Escobar SS

8. Suzuki C

9. Rosairo LF

Buxton has been leading off a lot in his ST games, not sure if they are really planning on using him here or if it was just to try to get him more ABs.  He may not be leading off opening day but I think he'll be there soon enough.

I considered Mauer 2nd, if that would be the case where would you see Dozier hitting?

Sano cleanup seems like a no brainer although Plouffe has been there recently with Sano 3rd.

Suzuki has been in the 8 spot all ST and I don't see any other place to put him unless his bat catches fire.

Speed at the bottom with Rosario and flipping to Buxton at the top could be a lot of potential RBI for the guys following.

What's your take?

Dozier 4 - it's worked to this point. He usually sees pitches.

Mauer 3 - best on base guy not named Sano. Want him on base for

Sano 9 - best hitter, powerful, and want him batting in 1st inning.

Plouffe 5 - it's worked, and he wants to drive in runs. He'll have a lot of opportunity.

Park DH - I originally had him and Rosario switched, and still might.

Rosario 7 - might switch with Park to split up the righties.

Escobar 6 - doubles machine, should drive in some runs.

Suzuki 2 - fine in the 8-spot.

Buxton 8 - As Buxton figures things out and gets on base more, he's a guy for the 1-2-3 hitters to drive in.

I see a lot of batting order flexibility. You could easily bat Rosario 1 against a RH pitcher. Dozier could back up Sano, or you could have Park back up Sano. This roster is loaded with potential 20+ HR guys, and a few (Sano, Park, Arcia) that could ding over 30 at any time. Sano will hit at least 35 for sure. Twins could wind up platooning Arcia and Park depending on RH/LH pitcher to back up Sano. Imagine all three of them in the lineup, Park giving Mauer a day off...

Against a RH pitcher...

1. Rosario LF

2. Dozier 2B

3. Park 1B

4. Sano DH

5. Arcia RF

6. Plouffe 3B

7. Escobar SS

8. Catcher

9. Buxton CF

That's a whole lotta boom in the room.

Opening day:

Dozier - 4

Mauer - 3

Sano - 9

Plouffe - 5

Park - DH

Rosario - 7

Escobar - 6

Suzuki - 2

Buxton - 8

If Buxton gets hot at some point they will have to shuffle it around. Same goes for Arcia.
