HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 PSA- Reposting hearsay does not magically turn it into truth, folks.I was thinking the same thing. I have not read a single quote attributed directly to Sano that said he didn't want to play in the outfield. In today's Strib, LENIII had these comments on Sano, basically how the whole "Sano playing OF" came about:http://www.startribune.com/as-spring-games-begin-for-twins-let-the-questions-and-answers-begin/370745231/ And Sano's own opinion:http://www.foxsports.com/north/story/mlb-minnesota-twins-miguel-sano-transition-right-field-terry-ryan-020116
spinowner Provisional Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Will someone please start another thread today about Sano moving to the outfield!? And then another tomorrow, and the next day, and so on. I just don't feel like this is being talked about or analyzed enough. For a number of days I've been expecting the several threads discussing this topic to be merged into one. Of course, that might require TD to move to a new server...
Loosey Verified Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Maybe we should see him play one spring training game before we declare Sano ruined forever and traded for whatever the Twins can get for him. He most likely will not be the most graceful outfielder ever, but if he can make the plays he is supposed make and doesn't make too many mental errors, I think he will be just fine. There will likely be a learning curve, but this is most likely a 2 year assignment then a move to 3rd or 1st will most likely be in his future.

Loosey Verified Member Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Somebody who is upset about Sano in the outfield, please tell me where you think a good position for him to play is? Most of the claims are about him being the biggest outfielder in history, but in reality how many major league baseball players total have been larger than him? Put him at 3rd base, how many 6'4" 270lb 3rd basemen have there been in Major League history? Outside of DH and 1st base there are no positions that naturally fit a man of his size. He is a very large and athletic man, that is only 22 years old. Lets let that 22 year old athleticism show up.
