Should have left Duffey in. Instead we get another loss due to questionable managing and a terrible pen

Riverbrian, you once said that "the 2000th post must contain be a paragraph with references of Herbert Hoover... A blender and kidney stones."

I accidentally hit 2,000 without realizing it. How about the 2,002nd?

Too damn many BP fastballs. Well, that's young pitchers for you. And inexperienced managers. Molitor should have yanked May after the first walk.

That reminds me... I've been planning on participating in a game thread after heavy drinking.

I still need to execute that plan.

I am working on it...  lol

The moment is gone. I'm sorry.

2002 is completely of your choosing.

The way they were swinging and missing on breaking balls, I wouldn't have brought in a fastball pitcher.  That's just asking for it.

My wife and I had to go refrigerator shopping today.

I got home just in time to see the Twins were up 2-0...Houston had the bases loaded, two out...and then the grand slam.

My timing is either great or poor, depending on your viewpoint.

I would have brought in May. It's the right Managerial Move.

It just didn't work.

I agree. I think May was the best option and it just didn't work. I'm not going to chalk this up as another management failure.

Get outta here. :)

Fire Paul Molitor, showing up your third base coach and third baseman on an inconclusive play is pathetic.  How many games is he going to decide not to do everything in his power to win.  Yeah the end result would have 99% of been the call on the field but it's the 7th inning.  That is complete incompetence.

no the players always think they are safe. Plouffe let his passions get the best of him. Plouffe will see the play later today and apologize.

Why NOT challenge?

You don't want to run out of challenges in the 7th, thanks to not challenging that they also had a chance to not challenge the grand slam!!!

I agree it was the right move, but Molitor has been around baseball a long time. He should have seen that May's head wasn't right when he stepped on the mound. Should have yanked him for Casey Fien after the first walk. Fien isn't perfect, but at least he's a veteran.

Wish there was a don't-like button to click.

99% chance the call was correct on the field, and yet it would have been competent of Molitor to challenge? I don't understand.

Not if you have the gift of hindsight, then it was terrible, and I can demonstrate this.

Why didn't they bring in Cotts? They knew that the only thing the Astros could have done was counter with Mr. K George Springer.

there is something to this but I'm waiting for the "fire Molitor" thread to try to explain what I think happened :)

Third base coach who was right on top of it saw his foot was off as well.  It wasn't off by enough to overturn, but the last replay seemed to show he was off by a hair.  Put it this way no chance the call would have been reversed had it gone in the Twins favor, but I actually think there was a small chance the Twins would have won the challenge.

I think the third base coach was reacting and supporting the player.
