Trade Deadline

It is clear that the Twins feel they have no chance to win this year. To put it into perspective only losers wait for a deadline to make a deal. Teams that want to play in October make moves and don't wait. I have to give KC some credit for going for it but the Zobrist deal is going to look real bad in a couple of years. If they win a World Series they won't care. At least they are active and are giving their fans something to cheer about.

The deadline hasn't arrived yet. It's not time to panic right now.

 

Also, I don't think the Twins are going to get a C or SS right now. So if you're in the boat who thinks the Twins should, you're probably going to be disappointed.

How about Clint Barmes? He's probably one of the most boring players around, but he's actually playing pretty well in part time duty in San Diego of all places. He couldn't cost much but still can play defense and looks better offensively than what's in Minnesota.

I'm also very curious what happens with Shields. I don't want another aging pitcher, but I bet when we see what extra players/incentives San Diego has to throw in to get rid of his backloaded contract, many of us will be envious.

At this point I'd be shocked if we make any moves other than in house moves. I'd like to see Polanco give us a little boost of excitement, and maybe we need to just put his errors aside and let him play out at SS. Polanco can flat out hit, a lot like Rosario. Quick stick at the plate. Turner will be a September callup, and if he can finish out the next 5 weeks like he's been playing for the month of July I think he'll push Suzuki aside.

 

Anybody remember when we beat out the Tigers for the division in the last 6 weeks and 9 games back?!

 

I personally think that our inhouse moves would be as good as making a minor trade at this point, so we might as well see what we have. Duffey and Achter to BP, Pelfrey to BP, May stays in BP, and Berrios to SP. This gives us 3 new faces and arms in the BP who can't possibly be any worse, and May is okay in the Pen, and Berrios is a student of the game.

 

I think we should be dangeling Arcia out there, and see if we can get a great 8th inning BP arm that is signed through 2016 at least. If we need to add 1 other mid range prospect lets do it.
