Phil Hughes Article on Fangraphs

Home run ball is what is killing him this year, I think Hughes is a pretty smart pitcher and he even acknowledged his struggles recently, I have confidence that he will be able to limit the mistakes in the near future and get back to being a solid pitcher.

What is considered a solid pitcher?  Because what he's doing this year is in-line with what he did in 2011, 2012 and 2013. 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015 FIPs all start with 4.5.

 

This is more like the pitcher he is than the one we saw last year.
