Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I'll pop in on the game once in a while, but can't miss the Masters. I'm a Phil fan, can't stand Tiger, but joined a league this year. You pick one player a week, and can only pick that player once for the year. You get whatever his earnings are. This week I picked Spieth. He's got to hold on, will the pressure get to him? I didn't join til after the first 6 weeks, so no chance, but it pays 12 places and could possibly inch my way up. 75 of us in all, at $50 a head so a nice payoff. Go Spieth!

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Without Brian's "things to think about" this could be a very long season.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Without Brian's "things to think about" this could be a very long season. It was simply too difficult for Brian to come up with things to think about on a daily basis. At the end of the season last year, his mind was so empty, we had to send him to a brain rejuvenation spa for 2 months. So, we compromised for this season and he does his 'things' for every series opener. And you all fill in for the other games. Winston, have you signed up to take a turn yet? There are dates available. Here's the link. Just PM Chief!
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 It's gonna be pretty hard for Schafer to get 3 hits, unless you were talking about batting practice.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 Without Brian's "things to think about" this could be a very long season. Meh, it's a learning curve. I been tryin' to hide somewhat my lack of content behind a creative form. I'll start training for my next chance by reading a couple of decades of Mad Magazine... I'll try to follow baseball more closely and even *gasp* form my own opinions on a few things. In the meantime, i'll blame it on framing. And thank everyone for putting up with my AAAA material (being generous to myself) And if my efforts make it easier for the next non-Riverbrian, that's good enough for me."You do the best with what ya got." Oh, to take ya literally, how many games longer will the season be? I'd willingly let him off the game thread hook for that.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 It's gonna be pretty hard for Schafer to get 3 hits, unless you were talking about batting practice. You are quite right, and tryin' to squeeze stuff into haiku doesn't lend clarity. "3. But 3 have 4 hits:Dozier, Mauer, and Schafer.Road trip ends; sun shines." Was referring to season totals, which don't mean much 5 games in. Oh well. But who knows... Thinking of the recent Red Sox - Yankees game, he could enter as an 8th inning replacement and still get 4 at bats... Again, sorry if my unclearitude caused any consternation.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I like the new and improved getaway day lineups that include Mauer and some "hot-hand" hunches. Get to Sale early and often, before the game gets in the hands of the back-end of the White Sox pen, boys.

(Although obviously this is consistent with the starting pitcher, unlike the complaint referred to in the original post)

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 No slight intended SSO. Just miss Brian's pearls of wisdom. I always thought he did his best work when his mind was empty, by the way! It certainly was a Sisyphean effort by Brian the last few years.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 12, 2015 Author Posted April 12, 2015 Still debating whether or not to go to today's game. Who won? (the debate, i mean) (er... in haiku...) Will a live Twins gamebe worth it although one must endure White Sox fans?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Today's vantage. Club level! And since I forgot to charge my phone (d'oh!) I'm on limited battery power, probably using my last to post this photo. It's quite lovely out here today. And I don't think my seat will be moving into the shade today. (And yes, diehard, I know it's not my seat moving. It's called an incorrect turn of phrase)
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I know it's early but no one is here. Chris Sale is making his season debut. If I were a Sox fan ... wait. Strike that thought. It's a horrible thought

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Phil Hughes is not an ace. Aces Suck when you have a 6 7 8 and 9 in your hand.
