Willihammer Provisional Member Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Great movie? Or greatest movie?
Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I liked it quite a bit - I appreciated how it navigated telling a story through the medium of film and taking advantages of the medium. Lots of that tasty magical realism.I want to find a copy of that Raymond Carver short story that was adapted into the play within the movie.
freshinthehouse Verified Member Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I know that the dinner table scene comes from the short story What We Talk About When We Talk About Love (which I think is also the name of the short story compilation it appears in).
freshinthehouse Verified Member Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I dug it. I've always enjoyed Inarritu's(sp?) stuff, and this was probably his best movies since Amores Perros. But so far I'd say the best movie of 2014 that I've seen is Snowpiercer.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Wow, Best Picture of the Year. Birdman. Best Picture. Not surprised.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I'm sort of surprised that the academy voted for it, but think it was deserved.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I'm a bit disappointed The Imitation Game didn't fare better. At least The Theory of Everything got a nice win.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I have to admit that I got a bit of thrill seeing all the fauxrage from people that American Sniper/Bradley Cooper didn't win.
