Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 The Pitching Coach decision seems to be narrowing down to either Neil Allen or Carl Willis, both of whom could be great. The Twins have named a 3rd base coach, Bullpen Coach, an assistant Hitting Coach, and retained Tom Brunansky as Hitting Coach. The only position left, it seems, is the bench coach. Brunansky is the only coach on the staff with outfield experience, right? His focus should be on the offensive side of things, so the bench coach probably will be the de facto outfield instructor as well. This makes some of the rumored candidates, like Robin Yount, seem a little more appealing. What are some names of coaching candidates that might be able to step in and help the woeful outfield defense?

Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 Hmm - now that I think about it, does the bullpen coach not count? Last year was: GardyAndersonBrunoCuellarMolitorVavraSteinbachand Scott Ullger, which is 8 coaches... So maybe they do still have two spots... In either case, hopefully one or both will be an OF coach too.... any rumors out there on who might be in the running for that gig?

Kirby_waved_at_me Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 I guess I don't know what the rule is ... I thought it was 7 total; 7 plus the manager seems to fit, or 7 total coaches total in the dugout (so the bullpen coach doesn't count...). Either way, there are still two spots, "1st base coach" and a "Bench coach" How about Devon Whyte (aka Devon White) for first base coach?
