Here is their conclusion:"Cuddyer is still a quality major league hitter and can help a team in the clubhouse. Unfortunately, he doesn't provide any value in the field or on the bases. With teams much more cognizant on defensive metrics and the value quality defense can provide, I have a tough time believing any team besides the Rockies in the NL would be willing to sign him. An AL team looking for a solid bat at DH for two years could do worse than Cuddyer, and his leadership ability will only increase his value to a team that decides he's worth the investment."
Rosterman Verified Member Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 That's the surprise with the Rockies offer, which I would grab if I was Mike, because he could still find a decent job in the $4-6 million range for a couple of years (if not more money) in the American League as a designated hitter, bench guy, who also ahs some fielding abilities at 1B, 3B and OF. In Colorado, he is blocked at 1st by...Justin Morneau. Of course, Morneau could be a nice trade chip for the Rockies considering his salary and coming off a batting title. But if Cuddy doesn't grab the qualifying offer, he should fire his agent!
stringer bell Verified Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I'm a Cuddy fan. I think he should take the QO, but I dispute that he is an AL player. Cuddyer hasn't DHed more than a handful of times and I seem to recall that he was uncomfortable hitting only. Secondly, a guy with versatility is very helpful in the NL, what with double switches and keeping guys who pinch hit for the pitcher in the game.
