Berardino: Brunansky/Twins Coaches in Limbo

Pioneer Press's Mike Berardino chatted with Twins hitting coach Tom Brunansky about being in limbo. 

 

 

“If they feel strongly about the work we put in and the direction we’re going in,” Brunansky said, “I would assume they’d want me back.”

What do you think of the 12/31 contract date?  Has this been standard for the Twins for some time or relatively recent?  Really seens to hamstring the coaches,.

 

I think most will end up in the organization somewhere.

Personally, I'd like to see Brunansky stay as the hitting coach. But it'll be all up to the new manager...

Not necessarily. GMs have previously insisted on a coach or two of their choosing on a staff. It seems like it is usually a bullpen coach or perhaps a first base coach. I believe Stelly was grandfathered in when the Twins changed managersfrom Gardner to Miller and then on to TK. I thought Bruno did a fine job with Twins hitters in 2014 and also was a positive in '13. I hope he stays. I'd like Molitor to stay on board regardless, but I think he'll only stay as the manager.
