Minor League Injury Updates

Recommended Posts

Here are some quick injury updates on players through the Twins minor leagues:

  • Fernando Romero and Tyler Stirewalt have had Tommy John surgeries this year. (Randy Rosario had the surgery in April)
  • JT Chargois, who had TJ surgery last August, is throwing bullpens and likely will not pitch until Instructional League.
  • Zack Jones is throwing bullpens and there is a chance he will get into games before the season's end.
  • Taylor Rogers was placed on the DL with some biceps tendinitis.
  • DJ Baxendale was placed on the DL with a biceps strain.
  • The sense is that Max Kepler won't be out too long with his thumb injury. (could it be tied to Buxton moving up to AA soon?)
  • Josh Burris has missed so much time this year because of an oblique injury.
  • 2014 draft pick Andro Cutaro has been out with a back injury.
  • Based on things I've heard, I don't think that Kohl Stewart's shoulder is anything concerning. Might just be skipping a couple of starts. There is just some soreness.

Is Sano going to get any PT this year?

The Twins announced a couple of weeks ago that they're not going to have him play in any games this season, and he won't play in the Arizona Fall League... He may play in the second half of the Dominican Winter League.

When will Zack Larson return? How long has he been out, anyway? It seemed like he got off to a good start and was a doubles machine at Cedar Rapids if I remember correctly.

  1. MRI on Kohl Stewart's shoulder was clean. Dr. John Steubs examined and found no issues, per #mntwins AGM Rob Antony.

    1. Stewart is expected to resume playing catch soon and build back up toward next start. #MNTwins fully expect him to pitch again this season.

      1. Kohl Stewart's issue originated after a 9-hour bus ride last week from Cedar Rapids to Bowling Green, Ky. May have slept wrong on shoulder.
