Swagger

I wish I would have looked at Floyd's stats vs the Twins before the game, but this is certainly worth seeing. " Caving in against Minnesota is something Floyd and the White Sox do. Floyd is now 0-8 with an 8.85 ERA over his last eight starts against the Twins, making him the first White Sox pitcher to lose eight in a row to one team since Tommy Thomas against the Yankees from 1926 to 1928 . There's some dignity in losing eight straight to the 1927 Yankees ... not so much with the 2012 Twi

Tuesday's Trip through the Minors

As I put this post together, the Twins are up big on the Chicago White Sox in the eighth inning. Gavin Floyd struggled for the White Sox and the Twins pounced on him for nine runs in the first four innings. Only Ben Revere and Brian Dozier have yet to get involved in the hit parade so it will be interesting to see if they can join the club in the final innings.   PJ Walters is in the middle of his third start since being called up by the Twins. There were some bad starts to innings with Walters

Robin Ventura gets first crack at Twins

http://www.southsidesox.com/2012/5/22/3035807/robin-ventura-white-sox-twins#storyjump   I wanted to post this as it is hard to read this statement. " Now the Twins enter the mix, and how well the White Sox handle the American League's worst team could tell us whether the Sox can make anything more of their season."   On the flip side of this, the Twins could keep the momentum going as they have won 4 out of the last 5 games. There is nobody better to play, based on the last 8 years

Profiles of the Top 22 Pitchers for the 2012 MLB Draft: Lance McCullers

Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ---- With the Twins having a severe need for pitching in the organization as well as six picks among the top 100, it is certain that more than one ofthose picks (and probably the second overall pick) will be used to draft a pitcher. To this respect, I am presenting profiles of the top 22 pitching prospects for the 2012 MLB draft.   I will be presenting these alphabetically, and at the end I will rank them. Random Tuesday Twins Thoughts and Tidbits

Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ----   Here is this week's installment:   Still continuing the presentation of the top 22 arms for the 2012 MLB draft. You can find them all here. For a couple years (2009 and 2010) I live-blogged the Twins' draft, providing profiles and information for each pick, and it looks like I might resume doing it this season again. More information on the MLB draft coverage at The Tenth Inning Stretch next week, as it is getting closer to the draft. No

Tuesday Rock Cats Report: Diary of a First Place Team

It was 10-2 going into the 9th inning, but Daniel Turpen let the game get a little too close for comfort. A win is a win, though! The

2012 Day-by-Day - May 21

Sorry for no update yesterday, attached is the recap from today. No Hitter or Pitcher of the day, but Jeff Manship did go strong in what could be a tryout for the big team. Despite no game from the Twins today, the organization has a much better day, winning in all 4 levels today, all but 1 convincingly.   Here's the recap:   https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AiRVhKu18uIhdDBSYUc5UGtSMkluOEFSWFdnTVdvQVE&output=html   I was thinking of possibly adding an option to receive the day-

Hats off to Drew Butera

I would like to personally thank Drew Butera for stepping up in last nights game and throwing an inning in place of a bullpen that was coming apart at the seams. The Minnesota Twins have been known for solid pitching in the past years but who knew it would come from the backup catcher?   Butera threw a scoreless inning in a blow out loss to the Brewers for the Twins on Sunday afternoon. Now, I will admit that I have been on Butera's case as one of Ron Gardenhire's "chosen ones" but after Sunday,

Why is it...?

Why is it that on most days, when I channel surf to ESPN during commercial breaks of the other show I'm watching, I never get an update on how the Twins' game is going, but when they lose a game 16-4 like yesterday it's constantly the game shown on the crawl at the bottom of the screen when I click over there? Ugh.

The Unofficial #Twins @Twitter Guide

Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ---- In the age of social media we live in, more and more teams and players are taking opportunity of the available methods to reach out and communicate with the fans. Or just get something off their mind. Or just post some nonsense. Since there is an off-day today, and there is not much else to do (Twins-wise), I decided to present an unofficial Twins at Twitter guide.   I have compiled a list of twitter accounts of players in the Twins' orga

When the starting pitcher doesn't make it out of the second inning in a game following an extra-inning affair, it is going to be tough for a team to find success. The Twins offense did s

Handcuffed Arms, Brewers Series Recap, and Other Notes

Originally posted at k-bro's baseball blog On Friday when the Twins were beating up on the Brewers, for as much as I was enjoying the production, I was thinking to myself that they should save some of their hits for another day when they needed them. It's a cliched joke, I know, but considering how shaky this season has been, I worry about such things.     But I'm reasonably pleased that the Twins still took the series, and things have been looking less glum. And, yeah, Sunday was pretty u
