Championship: Purdue 6, Indiana 5 A nearly-empty stadium in Columbus is not the usual setting for a Purdue-IU matchup. Usually the rivalry brings out the best (or worst) of the schools' respective fans in packed stadiums and arenas. The two teams made up for the lack of fan frenzy with a ninth inning brawl around third base, of all places. After Field of Twins draft-endorsed catcher Kevin Plawecki's second homer of the tournament and 7th of the season put Purdue up 5-4 in the 8th inning, In
A few hours later than normal, but here nonetheless... Figured I would update the slash lines I started last week so as to get a picture of where our 2012 Minnesota Twins are sitting compared to the rest of the American League. Interesting to note with all the different line-ups that certain positions in the field and certain spots in line-up perform the same, good or bad, no matter who is in there. Anyway, here are this weeks updated slash lines: C - .284/.371/.358 .729 (6) 1B - .206/.286/.352 .638 (11) 2B - .231/.280/.288 .568 (12) 3B - .20
Hitter of the Day: Sean Burroughs - 3B - ROC - AAA: 2-5 2 2B (3), 4 RBI, 2 R Pitcher of the Day: Tim Shibuya - RHP - BEL - A: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 ER (3 R), 2 BB, 3 SO If you look at the above line and ask me why he was the pick of the night, my answer would simply be "because I needed to pick one". In a night where no pitcher, starter or reliever, had a good night, I went with Shibuya. He was roughed up last start, so to see him bounce back to a "respectable" outing, and to do it on a night where
While traversing the threads, blogs, and articles posted on Twins Daily, I really like that this site has sabremetric analysts, purists, extremists, and the alternative of thought. That is super great, but I am starting to feel that the whole trade scenario talk, speculation, and haphazard desire to execute could hamstring this franchise even more. When I was growing up, there seemed to be an imbedded loyalty to our favorite and best Twins players and they stuck around and we were happy for th

The book on Ben Revere is that he is a slap-hitting, bloop-knocking, fast-running, somersaulting offensive contributor. In his first full season at the major league level last year, he demonstrated outstanding contact. Of course, the catch was that his contact did not go anywhere. Revere would drive the ball into the ground and try to leg it out. In fact, among those with at least 400 plate appearances last year, his 68.5% ground ball rate led baseball. When he did put the ball in the air, the
Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Twins have been playing a little bit better baseball and the team has been able to put together a few wins since the last time we were together for "Friday Links-N-Thinks." The rotation has been overhauled with a youth movement coming into the fold. The likes of Scott Diamond, PJ Walters, and Cole DeVries have been added to the roster to throw the ball over the plate. After the first game of the White Sox series, things looked to b
The debut of Cole De Vries was a game with several ups and downs. De Vries struck out Alejandro de Aza, the first batter he faced. He threw a scoreless first inning. Then in the second frame, AJ Pierzynski got him. He was charged with three unearned runs in the third inning after an error, a pop up and a blooper. He then got seven batters out. Given a 5-4 lead, he went out for the 6th inning and served up back-to-back home runs to Paul Konerko and Alexi Rios and his debut was over. His line at t

Ohio State 5-4 Game-by-game player notables: In game one, Tony Bucciferro was very good, giving up only one earned run in 8 innings. In game two, Jaron Long struggled for Ohio State, only going three innings. In game three, Michael Pritchard went 2-for-6 to continue a very strong tournament for
I realized just now that last night's edition did NOT have the May 23rd game for the Twins. This cold is getting to me. Thankfully it's on its last days. Hitter of the Day: Justin Morneau: 3-5 2 HR (8), 2B (7), 3 RBI, 3 R Pitcher of the Day: Madison Boer - RHP - FTM - A+: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER (2 R), 0 BB, 3 SO I chose Boer not because he had the best line (though no one really took charge of that tonight), but after his struggles after his promotion from Beloit to Ft. Myers, he showed good si
I am not a follower of Donald Trump. I have participated in several no kings rallies and am disgusted with what he and his followers have done to our country and the world. I would like to know what most Brazilians feel about the United States now and about the folks our citizens have elected to represent us.
