Man outsourced his own career to China to browse web

From time to time, news outlets fall for a story by satirical news site “The Onion” but several things are so ridiculous, they have to be true. Take for instance, the male who outsourced his own career. He didn't fire himself to pad executive pockets, but hired a Chinese company to do his work for him on the inexpensive so he could sit and watch cat movies while at work.     Visit today our own webpage.     Not a prank     When people at the office joke about outsourcing their jobs, they do not

2013 Spring Training Guide to Fort Myers Part II: The Baseball

Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ---   This is the second of the three 2013 Spring Training Guides to Fort Myers that will appear here. The first one was a guide on the logistics of how to get there and where to stay etc., including some ways to get there as inexpensively as possible, if that is a consideration. The Logistics Guide can be found here. The next guide will be about food and this one is about the reason people go to Fort Myers: Spring Training baseball.   The

Baseball's Saddest Day

One of the people I follow on Twitter (I don’t recall who) called it “Baseball’s saddest day.” That’s probably an overstatement, but not by much. To put it bluntly, for baseball fans of my generation, Saturday sucked rocks.   In one calendar day, we lost two giants of the game. First came the news that we lost the man I always felt was the greatest manager of his time, Earl Weaver. Incredibly, a few hours later, came word that Stan Musial had also passed. Weaver was 82 when he passed away

10 Things to Do and See at TwinsFest

Originally posted at k-bro's baseball blog   The days are beginning to get noticeably longer. Football teams are being eliminated from the playoffs one-by-one. The Twins Caravan is in full swing. So it must be almost time for TwinsFest.   I know many fans enjoy going to TwinsFest yearly. Those folks already already know what they want to do. But, if you haven't been in a while, allow me to point out some of my TwinsFest traditions.     Make a plan: Be sure to visit the TwinsFest website to view

2013 Spring Training Guide to Fort Myers. Part I: The Logistics.

Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ---   Less than a month for Pitchers and Catchers to report to Fort Myers so it is about time for you to make your arrangements to go to Fort Myers (I made mine late last year) and it is about time for the second annual Fort Myers Guides.   Last season there were two Spring Training Guides: the Spring Training Guide to Fort Myers and the Fort Myers Culinary Guide . This season there will be three guides and will be different than last year's

An illustration of what is in the heart of the Twins pitching problems

Originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch ----   With Catchers and Pitchers reporting in less that one month for Spring Training 2013, I decided to get ready for my Spring Training Coverage (teaser: expect 3 new guides this month) so I was looking at the past coverage here. I stumbled upon this little piece from the end of the 2009 Spring Training. It looks really innocent. After all it is a list of all 97 pitchers in the Twins' minors in 2008 from DSL to AAA, who were still wit

Kernels Hot Stove & Twins Caravan!

What a great night for baseball fans in Eastern Iowa!   In celebration of the new affiliation agreement between the Twins and the Cedar Rapids Kernels, the organizations combined to put on a terrific event Thursday night.   Every winter, the Kernels put on a Hot Stove banquet with proceeds going to their own charitable foundation. The event combines dinner, a silent auction and induction of the new Cedar Rapids Baseball Hall of Fame members. Tonight’s event, however, also included a local stop b

Gamblin' Man

I have fun at Terry Ryan's expense. (Sorry big guy, it's just too easy.) I photo shop him in all kinds of compromising outfits like say...this one! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S3j56Grc8-w/T-3Cqyhoa7I/AAAAAAAACCM/lghegrG918Y/s320/LMD3.jpg While this seems bad, plenty of people are frustrated enough with Terry's attitude to this off season to do far worse than photoshop him onto a Dutch breakdancer's body. Just what did he do? Well, he seems to have taken an already suspect pitching staff and fill

Twins (and former Twins) in the World Baseball Classic

On Thursday, the 2013 World Baseball Classic rosters were announced. The day began with MLB Network unveiling Team USA. In the afternoon, the rosters of the other participating countries were announced. Three years ago, Tom Stuifbergen became a household name for the team from The Netherlands when he, under the tutelage of Bert Blyleven, threw five shutout innings against the vaunted lineup of the Dominican Republic. He and several other Twins players (past, present and future) will be participa
