Twins Projected Rotation

It seems that once again the Twins have been at work picking up pitchers. It seems that their strategy this off-season is the shotgun method, throw volume at things and hope you hit something. So far the signings have been for veterans like Kevin Correia, Mike Pelfrey , and Rich Haren. Talk to Contact, Ep 22: TwinsFest, Tigers talk and the cat video guy

Episode 22 of the Twins baseball podcast, Talk To Contact (@TalkToContact), is now available for download via iTunes or by clicking here.     http://puckettspond.com/files/2013/01/photo-1-300x225.jpg (Getting some ink from Twins top prospect Miguel Sano; his signature, by the way, is almost completely illegible.)   Paul spent the weekend up in Minnesota attending TwinsFest, drinking beer and talking baseball. As a result, he sounds both hungover and lifeless on the podcast, but there's still lo

Assessing the Starting Pitching in the Twins' Organization

(originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch) ---   For a baseball team to content, one of three things need to happen:   An organization has to develop impact starting pitchers. An organization has to trade for impact starting pitcher. An organizations has to sign impact starting pitcher free agents. I demonstrated earlier this month that the Twins' last two year abysmal record could have been predicted as earlier as 2008, based on the state of their starting pitching prospects.

He was the first front office person hired when the Twins moved to Minnesota in 1960 and was asked to lead their transi

Classic Picks Great Credit to Twins Trio

Last week, Team USA announced its initial roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic, with two Twins stars earning a role in the team ahead of the international baseball competition this March.     Our reliever, Glen Perkins, will fight for a place against some of baseball’s best. He is one of four lefties in the roster that includes young Royals pitcher, Tim Collins and San Francisco reliever, Jeremy Affeldt, who pitched in the World Series last fall.     Meanwhile, infielder, Joe Mauer, a nati

For Better or Worse: Oswaldo Arcia

Tonight, Oswaldo Arcia will be presented with a Diamond Award tonight as the Sherry Robertson Award winner as the Twins Minor League Hitter of the Year. The talented outfielder had a tremendous 2012 season and is moving up prospect rankings. More important, he is putting himself in position to be part of the Minnesota Twins big league roster sometime in 2014.   Arcia is prominently featured in the Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook (paperback or e-book). Like 150 other Twins prospects, he is pro

Twins Caravan makes Fargo stop

On Tuesday night, one of the legs of the Minnesota Twins caravan made a stop in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The location for this event was "The Venue" at "The Hub." Doors opened at 5:00 pm but the event didn't start until 6:30 pm. The hour and a half "pre-game" was for fans to enjoy a ballpark meal of hot dogs, chips, and soda.   Current Twins players Scott Diamond and Glen Perkins along with Twins great Tony Oliva were there to take part in the festivities. Cory Provus was there to give his voice
