I haven't written much lately. Honestly, I haven't even read much lately. Not about baseball, anyway. There just isn't much going on that I'm particularly interested in. Sure, spring training has started, but they haven't even started playing spring training games, yet, so there just isn't much going on to capture my interest. I'm pretty sure I'll get more interested when the Grapefruit League games get underway. I guarantee I'll be more than casually interested a month from now when I'll be a
Hello Twins fans.! Tonight, I'm going to co-host Troy's Twins Chat with my dad. We'll spend the majority of the time talking Twins topics and may also talk about the Major Leagues. If time permits, we may talk about other Minnesota sports topics. The show will start at 10 p.m. To listen to it live or to listen to it later, click on the following link. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/the-troy-larson-show/2014/02/25/troys-twins-chat
Phil Hughes might have had plenty of people betting MLB World Series in a real spin last year as he gave away plenty of home runs in the less than pitcher friendly environment in New York. This year it may well be that in Minnesota he’s in a more laid-back atmosphere and more importantly in a far more pitcher friendly stadium. After seven seasons with the Yankees, Hughes signed a $24 million, three-year contract to make Target Field his new home. Hughes was originally chosen as the 23rd p
Even amidst the 10-plus inches of snow (cue meat sauce) the Twin Cites area received in the past week, the promise of girls in bikinis and a clean-slate for baseball teams are soon approaching. Soon we will be trading in our winter hats, gloves, jackets and ice scrapers for baseball gloves, sun glasses and tans. So, for my first blog, I figured it would be apropos to begin thinking optimistically about our favorite major league ball team. 10) Target Field will sell-out 15 games this season. -

Max Kepler is listed 14th amongst minor league first basemen. He is ahead of some promising names. Is anyone else surprised by this? 1st Base? Is this a sign moving forward? http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/position-by-position-rankings-first-basemen/
Earlier this month, Teflon estimated the pitching staff would improve by 73 runs, driven mostly by the Twins free agent acquisitions. These runs would push the Twins' pythagorean win total to 70. Assuming that estimate is accurate, how many more runs would the lineup would need to plate in order to push their Pythagorean record all the way to 90? The answer is 188 runs. That's a lot of runs. To see if a 188-run offensive improvement had been done recently, I pulled the Runs Scored/Run allowed
With Twins fest in the books and the first spring training games coming up at the end of the month it’s time to take a look at the upcoming roster and see what we got. Last season was disappointing to say the least. Can we look forward to something better this season? Let’s begin by looking at the starting pitching. No matter how you look at it the starting pitching last year was in a word, awful, and that may be putting it politely. The rotation had the highest ERA of any team in the majors at
If you'd like to vote for the Peanuts from Heaven Hall of Fame, check out our original blog and all the nerdery and entertaining images associated with it. Once again the sounds of horsehide hitting leather mitts is resounding throughout the sunny fields of Arizona and Florida, and if we ever get to turn off our snowblowers we might just hear it up here in the towns teams call home during the summer. As is our custom every year at this time, we're spending part of spring training remembering

The Twins however don’t want to start Buxton’s service time in the majors if they don’t have to. With that said, Buxton could be the key factor to
