  1. Wonder if Jake Lamb is any relation to Mike. Still remember Terry Ryan when asked why Lamb was signed to a two year deal (he was released late into a forgettable year one). "He wouldn't take a one year contract".
  2. It would be. But, as I understand it only applies if said player is optioned out more than 20 days. I doubt he will be down that long. The Red Wings regular season ends in less than 20 days FWIW. As of now, they would make the playoffs. Lehigh Valley is the only other team realistically in contention. Rochester holds a one game lead going into tonight for the wild card.
  3. I wonder if Garver has ever faced Godley in the minors. Probably not this year as they were in different leagues. But possibly at some point. I sure would rather see what he can do than Eduardo Escobar. He had a nice hot streak, but it is long over. He has a .523 OPS in August. Pretty sure Falvine didn't bring Garver up to sit on the bench.
  4. Pablo Sandoval is not exactly a light weight. I don't know what he weighs, but he's probably a head shorter than Sano.
  5. As long as the Twins are still in realistic playoff contention, Falvine should be giving zero consideration to the playoff aspirations of their minor league affiliates. The minor leagues exist to develop players and supply substitutes for the majors, period. Which team wins and loses is of little importance.
  6. This exactly. The combination of moves made no sense. If you are trying to squeeze outs, you stick with Busenitz. He's already thrown enough pitches that he isn't going to be available the next day anyway. If you are playing matchups, you have to pull Boshers with Jackson batting, particularly after faiing to get the lefties out.
  7. Why? Garver can't be substantially worse than Grossman defensively.
  8. If I am not mistaken, Lou Gerhig maintained his streak this way at least once. I'm pretty sure he led off and started a game at shortstop on the road once. Of course, he never actually played shortstop. He was removed after his at bat. He had a bad back or something. I think I read about it in Olbermann and Patrick's book.
  9. Souhan on the cutting edge as usual. Where was this column 13 months ago?
  10. Unless it isn't working properly, most are probably at about 36-37.
  11. General rule of thumb is 5-6 days under proper refrigeration (32-39 degrees). The important aspects in safe food handling are cooling the food quickly (It should be below 40 in less than 6 hours) and heating it up thoroughly (to a minimum of 165 degrees). That's pretty much all food types.
  12. As a foodservice professional, I advise caution. Provided your chicken was properly cooled and properly reheated, you should be fine. But 4 days with cooked poultry is approaching the limit.
  13. You are the one who posted the number. Perhaps try stating what your number represents?
  14. Exactly. Not a sutuation in which Boshers should be facing a RHB.
  15. I think Belisle should face Encanarcion whether or not Bruce reaches.
  16. Anyone surprised Cleveland doesn't IBB Rosario?
  17. Like a guy that hasn't faced MLB hitters since Barack Obama was POTUS.
  18. This is from BR: The player who was recalled as the "26th man" can remain on the Active List and a different player can be dropped the next day, as long as the "26th man" was not called up prior to spending at least ten days on optional assignment. The way I read it, ANYONE else can be sent down. Kyle Gibson, for example. And sending Gibson down wouldn't make him ineligible to be the 26 th man Monday. It would be on short rest, but frankly I don't care. He can be the long man Monday. Gee can start one game.
  19. Boshers was sent down for Turley. Enns is on the DL, replace by Perkins. So, I think only three. One of whom has gotten zero outs as a MLB reliever. Another who has gotten 1 in the last 16 months.
  20. Maybe Falvine will surprise everyone and bring up Garver. He's certainly a better option to DH. And he's probably not a substantially inferior outfielder than Grossman. The options for DH with a Granite call up are a rotation of Sano, Mauer, Escobar and Rosario and maybe Kepler. My vote is Garver.
  21. Is there a re-entry rule in MLB? Bribg in Slegers for one pitch.
  22. It shouldn't be too wet. It didn't rain today, did it? Guess Grossman will be DL'd. Broken thumb. I'd assume Granite.
  23. That has got to be an error and an unearned run. No way does he get sent if Kepler doesn't trip over his feet.
