  1. Belt high sinker. Actually, 3 in that at bat. Concerning.
  2. Yes, let’s get a pitcher that couldn’t cut it on the worst team in MLB.
  3. I don’t have a major problem taking a low risk flyer on Logan Morrison. My question is why is he STILL getting at bats? I see zero value in him remaining on the roster. Give the at bats to either Vargas or Wade and decide if either is worth a spot in 2019.
  4. If you do that, you are throwing up the white flag for at least 2-4 years. I’m not sure the FO is prepared to do that. Indeed, every move this FO has made seems to be very short term focused. At least those involving MLB players.
  5. Hence the importance of removing the option of using Belisle, Duke, and Rodney.
  6. I believe the theory in starting a reliever and then going with a normal starter revolves around making those first batters of the game (typically the best hitters) see one of your top relievers. That way those players won’t get their third at bat against the “starter” until the 7th inning instead of the 5th. Sure, the rest of the opponent’s lineup will get 3 at bats earlier than that, but they are less accomplished hitters, guys a mediocre starter has a better chance of getting through without damage.
  7. Oh, I agree, the wisdom of the idea in general is far from certain. But if you don’t have a guy that can not drain the pen the day after (and the day before frankly), it definitely doesn’t make sense. My post didn’t really express that the way my brain did.
  8. It only makes sense if you have a guy to slot after your bullpen game that you can count on to give you 7 IP consistently. If you don’t, you overuse your pen in a real hurry. The Twins don’t have that guy yet.
  9. If Messers Buxton, Sano and Dozier had performed as anticipated (or even close to it), RH production wouldn’t have been any kind of issue. If you are looking from an offensive boost from a bench player, you probably need better starters. And, that was the case this year. A lot of the starters greatly underperformed.
  10. 9 ERA vs 7.88 ERA. 2-1 final score. You heard it here first.
  11. An extra 2-3 wins at this point means nothing but a lower draft slot.
  12. According to fangraphs, if he gets 3-4 WAR he should get $ 24 - $ 32 mil per year... Because their methodology is sooooo accurate it’s beyond scrutiny. Or not.
  13. The Twins could easily trade Dozier, Rodney and/or Duke before Wednesday. I certainly wouldn’t presume Belisle is gone. This FO signed him to a guaranteed MLB contract when no other team would TWICE.
  14. Kinda surprised by that. It’s been at or near the top the last 4 years.
  15. Usually, when one quotes a post the comments are specifically related to the post. Wasn’t jumping down your throat. Merely confused.
  16. I think you underestimate the common fan. I’m pretty sure most know Dozier likely won’t be around come August 1. If he’s still around on the 30th, I suspect he’ll get more than the usual applause. I suspect he got that on the homestand going into the break as well.
  17. It’s baffling to me that this team carries 8 or even 9 relievers when, by usage, it is obvious they only need 7.
  18. What does ANY of this have to do with Kepler?
  19. Hunter made a poor effort on the first batter of the game of the Twins first home playoff game since 1991 to allow an inside the park homerun to Ray Durham as well. It wasn’t a dive, it simply bounced under his glove.
