  1. Big shock. Angel Hernandez blew a call.
  2. Morrison’s BA is so low it takes more than one out to move it down further. Usually, even at this point of the season every at bat will move it by at least .001.
  3. That should have been strikes two and three. But, Angel Hernandez
  4. Probably Duffy or someone who pitches a lot on Saturday.
  5. I can’t wait to hear the rationale behind giving Morrison an at bat in the 9th.
  6. Falvine controls who’s in the rotation by the players they put on the roster.
  7. According to gameday, Jimenez is throwing 94 MPH fastball and 91 MPH changeup. I’m not a pitcher, but that doesn’t sound like a recipe for success.
  8. Fortunately, Morrison is in no danger of having enough PA to qualify, otherwise he’d be giving Chris Davis a run for the title of worst season ever.
  9. Sano’s absence from the lineup is extremely odd.
  10. A lot of people probably couldn’t have imagined that Belisle would be back this year.
  11. There is an easy fix to that problem.
  12. My favorite: Brad Radke is about 6 months older than Bartolo Colon. Radke retired 12 years ago. He’s been retired for as long as he was a MLB player.
  13. May is probably better used putting fires out mid inning than 3 runs up with no one on. I also don’t know if he is up to the workload of a closer (sometimes 2-3 days in a row). Does anyone really think it won’t be Matt Belisle in the 9th in 9 days? Until then, idk. Hildenberger I guess. Maybe matchups.
  14. Of course all the Yankees got out of the Knoblauch trade was two championships. I figure they’re pleased.
  15. And even if they did have guys at AAA that could replace him for less (an opinion I strongly disagree with), they definitely don’t have four. One, MAYBE two that MIGHT SOMEDAY be better.
  16. Not if Buxton produces as is hoped and Cave does basically as well as this year. Cave has the same fWAR as Mauer in less than half the at bats. And a considerably higher OPS. It gets a productive bat (Cave) into the lineup more often than his role as 4th OFer would typically allow without taking the productive OFers out of the lineup. It’s called win-win.
  17. Clearly. But once there is a runner on third with one out, you go to the point of least resistence. By the numbers, that’s Encarnacion.
  18. Actually, I believe he threw out a batting tee. It was a game in Cleveland. Mike Fichter was the ump. He was terrible. Joe Mays was the Twins pitcher. Even the Indians’ pitcher Chuck Finley said something like “he (Fichter) missed some for me too. He missed more for Joe, but he was pretty tight tonight.” And there was no fine after those comments. In other words, MLB acknowledged he was right. It was Fichter’s first year as a regular ump at the MLB level and I don’t think he lasted 5. He was one of the guys hired after the union’s strategy of mass resignation failed miserably.
  19. They still had to pay him MLB salary and allow him to acrue MLB service time without finding out anything about his ability to pitch at the MLB level. I really wouldn’t consider that a wise strategy.
  20. Not sure there are many warm weather cities in either the PCL or the IL.
  21. And his OPS this year is .711. Other than 2017, it hasn’t been above .752 since 2013. I don’t know how anyone could objectively look at his performance over the last ten years and come to the conclusion that he isn’t in decline.
  22. Yes, I mentioned as well that part of this plan was Buxton performing as a MLB hitter. Supposedly, the Twins farm system ranks sixth in the latest rankings. I wonder if those take into account how soon guys might be able to help. There’s maybe one position player within the next 12 months.
  23. Even if Mauer waived his no trade, what team is going to give up anything to pay $6 mil or so for maybe .1 or .2 bWAR?
  24. Particularly the relievers. The starters, other than Odirizzi, have done okay. But teams are running at will against most of the guys in the Twins pen. Magill and Rogers are notable exceptions.
