  1. How does this explain Rosario in RF? Not opposed to it, but he’s generally only played LF or CF at the MLB level. Basically, what’s the (real or perceived) advantage of Cave in LF as opposed to RF?
  2. Three different Twins relievers have thrown 40 plus pitches (and a 4th with 37) since the last time Trevor May threw 1. Different names. Same idiotic usage.
  3. I think it is already too late for the Twins to be ahead of the curve. At this point, they need to be sure they don’t get left in the dust, like what happened with analytics under the previous regime.
  4. IMO, not ok. He needs to be evaluated in situations like these. Yet MOY went to Duffy after 14 pitches yesterday and 21 Sunday (3 straight games). In that time, May has thrown 0. I don’t want May overworked, but underworking him isn’t beneficial either.
  5. Hildenberger only threw 7 pitches yesterday. Pitching back to back is something a closer will have to do. Sometimes 3 in a row.
  6. It appears Molitor has forgotten that Trevor May is on the roster as well.
  7. So, after being (by today’s standards anyway) something of a workhorse in the first half, this is Berrios’ third start of his last 4 in which he failed to complete 5 innings. Concerns?
  8. idk, the presumed reason to shut a pitcher down is to prevent injury, right? Pretty much everyone in this thread has said that is definitely part of the reason to shut Byron down.
  9. It appears Reed is the forgotten man now. MOY is aware he is under contract for 2019, right? Might it not make some sense to get him into some games to see if he is capable of helping at all?
  10. Call him up when there only enough days left in the season to get that extra year of control. There’s no rule that says call ups have to be on Sept 1 or on the day the minor league season ends. Win win. Twins get the extra year. Buxton gets a handful of AB against MLB pitching.
  11. He always has been. He owns a career .505 OPS vs LHB. Someone forgot to tell MOY that he doesn’t have a pitch to get quality RHB out.
  12. Odorizzi true to form. 3 IP. 55 pitches.
  13. If so, that’s an interesting switch. Of course, it could mean nothing. I was at a game decades ago in which Matt Lawton started in CF with Rich Becker in RF. The posted lineups had that reversed and that was the typical alignment that season.
  14. Not even if he hit .800 with 50 HR?
  15. He actually had a pretty decent May.
  16. That Gibson has 200 IP at AAA at age 23 compared with 45 for Stewart says a lot too. It means he hasn’t been able master AA.
  17. One wonders what role Morrison’s vesting option had in this process. Did he continue to play to try to reach it? I guess I don’t mind a guy trying to play through pain. But there comes a point where one hurts the team. I’d say the Twins reached that point with Logan in early June.
  18. What you call a “pointless technicality” I call a clear sign of a bad team. Good teams don’t spend basically the entire season under .500. The Twins have been under .500 since mid April. To stay. Sure, you are entitled to your opinion about what the Twins should have done at the deadline. I’m certainly glad you aren’t the guy making that decision. But, I highly doubt the ones who did regret “selling” as much as they did. Remaining vets are upset about it? Too bad. Perform better.
  19. How many of those comebacks featured teams that were below .500 as far back as mid April? I’ll wager few, if any. Teams that spend 3 months below .500 aren’t good. Period.
  20. Are they though? Addison Reed was guaranteed 4 times the money that Fernando Rodney was. Even Duke was guaranteed $ 2 mil to Rodney’s $4 mil and change. He’s just a loogy. Maybe, just maybe, the market is catching on to what kind of relievers are truly valuable.
  21. I think Stewart’s future is in the bullpen. I doubt he ever gets to the point of being able to navigate a lineup more than once or twice. Tigers were 2 for 9 first time through. 4 for 8 with HBP second time. 2 for 2 with BB third time.
  22. Not surprisingly, Stewart ran in to trouble when the lineup flipped over a third time. I doubt he ever has success getting through a MLB lineup 3 times. His line first two times through: 4 1/3 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 1 K Third time: 0 outs, 2 H, 3 R, 1 BB It’s even worth noting the difference between first and second time: 2 for 9 first time. 4 for 8 with HBP second time.
  23. If Morrison’s play was impacted to the point that it turned a 3.7 bWAR player to a -.3 then he should have been on the DL and had surgery months ago.
  24. The only Twins players who played today that also appeared on opening day were Miguel Sano, Max Kepler and Joe Mauer.
