    It appears the Twins are now playing at our even above their market now. I'll bet Joe had a little talk with DSP about his comments early in the off-season. Is this the dawning off a new, above average age, lol?

    Now that he is further removed from his digestive issues he may bulk up and take another step. There are many things to like about G Cinco. Super well liked and no shrinking violet, he has a great attitude and I like his chances for further development.

    Jim did not seem interested in baseball, but Joe seems to be. I would think this is a positive for the Twins. He said he will be around the team much more than his uncle. Maybe Roger Hedrick can lend him his shorts and whistle, lol.

    Somehow coming to the conclusion that Baldelli is responsible for Correa playing less than the leaders at his position is mind boggling. Baldelli, huh? Gleeman came up with a stat (which I just verified on Baseball Reference) that after Carlos returned from his second injury stint he played something like 96 out of 102 games. A 152 game pace. I looked at it another way. He had 2 stints on the IL missing 21 games. In the 141 games where he wasn't injured he played 132. That is also a 152 game pace. I hope next year there is a least some reduction in people blaming Baldelli for everything they don't like and every outcome that isn't favorable. How about some reasoned discussion instead!

    Except that would mean they are out of it again. I hope they are rolling, but I think if they are in it next year they might have to stand pat at the deadline because the farm has already been raided.

    The narrative that the Twins made a mistake putting Lewis in the (dangerous?) position of center field does not hold water for me. He's is a ballplayer. His whole life. He is, apparently, prone to knee injuries. That play where he got hurt was pretty routine. The stresses on his knee as he landed after bouncing off the wall could've happened at short, at third, on the bases or walking in Texas after an ice storm. This is one instance where fans are working overtime to assess the Twins leadership with blame.

    When he was first called up Palacios played short and did look good. It was when he played second that he messed up. He hasn't played there much.

    That's not an attack. C'mon man. It is an observation and a factual one. I don't even pass any judgement I just state the fact. Now if you want my opinion on that behavior, that is another story. The OP was about what it would take to win fans back. I chose to discuss those that exhibit the most disdain for the man and my opinion on what would have to happen to change their stance. That is impossible to discuss without mentioning those fans and how they behave. Edit: the rest was just a rant and wasn't going to do any good.

    Well I don't think someone vigorously attacking another for posting negatively about Baldelli is the right approach. For example my answer to the OP that you are quoting doesn't attack anyone. I do get very weary of the repetitive negativity. I even have my own complaints about Baldelli and the front office. I have not felt it was wise to add them to this site that is overrun with complaint.

    For those that deride Baldelli in every or nearly every post they make there is nothing he could do to gain their favor. If the Twins won a playoff series or had a level of success not seen around here for decades, my guess is they would just go silent on the subject. I'm still sort of astounded while reading a post where at the end, even if it doesn't seem to fit the subject, they will finish with something along the lines of the manager must go. Almost like an email signature. I've never witnessed this much disdain for anybody in a lifetime of reading about sports. I, personally, don't get it.

    You could actually argue that due to the above average amount of injuries, a fine managing job was done to meet the original expectations.

    Ownership has a track record of extreme aversion to change in team leadership. Another year like this, close to 500, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them run it back again. These are good points and the Bundy and Archer thing really bugged me. Having to call St Paul after every Archer start. I get that they were considered the 4th and 5th starters, but if they only go 4 or 5 at best, split em up. If the team exhibits the same weaknesses next year I'd support a change in leadership. I hope it doesn't come to that.

    I'm slowly coming around to this, sadly. It is in part because of your excellent posts @chpettit19. The reason it has been so hard for me to give up on this new regime is moving on from the TR experience was so far overdue. I wasn't on board with bringing him on for his second go round and was very excited for change. I liked the revamping of the organization and the idea of a well developed pitching pipeline. Better talent development overall. I'd be inclined to give them one more year with the expectation that something is done about the injury problem and that the bullpen and starters going deeper is prioritized. With the owner's track record I highly doubt they make a move, but if they do it will be a whirlwind off-season.

    That's why I strategically said 7 or 8 innings, lol. He should've have gone out for the 6th. I also agree that using the top relievers the night before with this series and a double header coming doesn't make sense to me.

    If the Twins are going to have a starter or starters that they can only count on for 4 innings, I don't want them to sign that starter. Especially not 2 of them. Hopefully this year has proven to the front office that getting an above average number of innings from their starters is necessary if they want to be an above average or better team. They had better adjust some of their strategies.
