  1. I'm on board with this. Spend the same as last year and bring in some lumber. If they're worried about a roster of one year mercenaries then carefully pick one prime addition for a longer 2-3 year deal.
  2. If they had won just 3 more games they would have been at 500. Considering all that went wrong and that list is shockingly long, that's not bad. I think we'll find out what the future might look like for Sano and Buxton next year. Kepler too. One look at Sano in the spring will tell. They may not all pan out but 2 out of 3? Bats n bullpen this off-season. They've mentioned trades as well as longer free agent acquisitions. I'm excited for this long off-season. In my worst case scenario they are at least competitive with this core while the talent from below trickles in to maybe spark something. Sounds better than annual 100 L's!☺
  3. We are in for an eventful off-season fasten your seatbelts it's going to be a bumpy ride!
  4. I'm glad this happened, I want this FO to do its thing and see what happens. I did get frustrated with Molitor as a manager. He is articulate though albeit with a unique style. Thoughtful. I find that refreshing in sports especially when compared to a guy like Zimmer who seems to wear his butchery of the English language like a badge of honor.
  5. I'm on board with this choice. We all like to see when someone gets knocked down and picks themselves up. Gibson has been knocked down a few times I'd say. The higher FB velocity would be because he went to the 4 seamer more and less of the sinker.
  6. Maybe but can you really see Buxton hot out of the box? I see all four of them worked in to the mix and slowly allowing Buxton tougher matchups
  7. Like these recaps and your overall upbeat style!
  8. I would extend Gibson. I would bet this will be his prime, the next three/ four years. Looked like he had everything at his disposal yesterday after 200 innings. Dialed in!
  9. Babalisle Babyelisle
  10. Hildy will have to do some rearranging this off-season
  11. Gibson's a legit number 2 next year heard it here first.
  12. Congratulations on the solid year Mr Gibson! Gibby has been fun to watch all year.Such a change from the old nibbling ways. Very consistent
  13. Baseball dares to be different
  14. In one fewer start Gibby has 191 innings vs Odo at 164. About an inning a start. 3.6 vs 1.5 war. I would say more was expected of Odo which could impact that impression.
  15. They signed something like six guys. More than was expected. Addison Reed was considered a top five reliever. People were excited. Lots of disappointing performances followed. I think most of us were pleasantly surprised with the FO's activity level with the only caveat being that it wasn't super splashy, that we didn't get Darvish. I personally didn't want Darvish for what he signed for. Why? Because free agency is a huge crap shoot.
  16. Zimmer said Elflein is playing and it will be at center. Yes Jones could help at guard and is a really good backup center. I'm glad it appears Zimmer sees this weak opponent as a chance to not grind down his vets before the tough quick turnaround vs the Rams. Thursday night football is a tough deal man. Get through it and they'll get some rest.
  17. I don't see what your point is here. His being not ready is expected and still not ready.
  18. The only way i see this team really competing is with a stocked farm that develops well. Armchair GM's with itchy trigger fingers blurt out "trade" "top dog free agent" but at best those crap shoots can only supplement. Acquiring young talent is another crap shoot that is why I like the way this FO has added at every opportunity. As a result our farm system rating has risen. Isn't this the best indicator of their performance so far? If you look at the amount of talent brought in in their 2 years and extrapolate that over a few more we might have the start of a pipeline that could create the kind of roster competition that would excite.
  19. About six key players either horribly underperformed, were injured or out because they got caught cheating. Everybody was excited entering this season after their off-season moves except the Darvish or bust set and how did that turn out? The number one culprit in the pre deadline poor performance of this club is hands down the players.
  20. I think money is just one factor. They definitely have set themselves up well in that department. My reference to a shopping spree is they don't just get to choose what they put in the cart but the products have a say plus there is only one of each on the shelf so you have competition from other shoppers to contend with. It sure is fun to imagine your ultimate FA team but quite another to actually pull it off.
  21. Yep just like a trip to Aldi, "aww just toss it in the cart"
  22. I think is important to add that radar guns may have cause a damaging fixation on pitch velocity resulting in the rise of this injury.
