    If a backup for CF is necessary (and I'm not sure it is, given the presence of Castro/Gordon/Martin), how come no one is talking about old friend Aaron Hicks? After leaving New York, he slashed .275/.381/.425 for a 127 OPS+ with Baltimore in 236 PA. More than half of his appearances in Baltimore were in CF, so someone must think he can still man the position. Signed with the Orioles after his release for the league minimum, now an unrestricted free agent (Yankees are still on the hook for the vast majority of his ~$10M/year through 2026)...how much could he possibly cost???

    While his level of play will undoubtedly deteriorate over the last years of a long term contract, that is balanced in part by the fact that payrolls are likely to increase over time and the fixed outlay each year comes to represent an increasingly smaller percentage of the overall team payroll. Another way to avoid being hamstrung by an outrageous outlay for declining production would be frontloading the contract, with the annual salary dimishing as the player ages and production wanes.

    I am REALLY pulling for Nick Gordon to stay healthy and show that he can be a contributor at the MLB level, be it with the Twins or someone else. Seems he has been plagued by horrible luck and timing for the last few years - just hoping he can finally show what he can do and get an opportunity

    From a purely selfish standpoint, would prefer to see the AA affilitate be in St. Paul and the AAA in Wichita. The really hot prospects are not infrequently called up from AA while AAA is where the veterans/emergency callups are stationed. MIght not make sense geographically though...

    There is also an O street on Coronado Island in San Diego. Appears to be a bit less prominent, perfect for a back-up catcher.

    That Charlie Brown kid reminds me of a young Joe Shlabotnik. I remember when he played for the Saints, then the Millers, and finally the old St. Cloud Rox...Let me tell you, no one knew anything about launch angles in those days. Back then it was "see the ball, hit the ball", that's what's wrong with the game today.
