  1. Braves guy must have been a newer guy or backup. Traditionally they were always really fun to listen to.
  2. Nice write up Lucas. It's always very interesting to read the science behind the procedures that players have to go through, TY.
  3. I have a Mauer jersey that my wife probably paid way to much for (Christmas present I think?) that I've had for probably 5 years now and have worn twice. It's actually a really nice one, and it's really funny because the longer I have it, the less and less likely I am to wear it.
  4. Good point and thought, but having seen both Kiry and Larnach play the outfield I'd probably have to give the defensive edge to Larnach. I'm not saying Kiry is a slouch on defense, just to the eyeball test, Larnach appears to be a little more fluid in how he roams the grass.
  5. All things considered, I think Maeda is a good pickup. Is he the magical unicorn fairy "ace" we've all been searching for all these years in MN?... No, but he doesn't have to be. He just needs to be able to keep our Twins in the game.
  6. Chinese characters? Is that what they're calling it in Japan these days?
  7. It's a relative thing rv78. For as big as Sano is, he looks very fit (don't forget he's north of 260 lbs). Plus, he's still learning to be a full time 1B. He'll make mistakes, it has to be expected some. He doesn't need to be a platinum glover, he just needs to make the routine plays routinely. He's athletic enough that the rest should come in time.
  8. That's fair. I would think that we might all be in a wait and see mode this spring with him, but by all accounts I have read about him (and what little I did see him pitch last year) last year was a pretty horrible year. Only time can tell at this point if it was an outlier and he still has some left in the tank or his arm has finally given up the ghost.
  9. I’m with Mike on this one also. I would think Balazovic would factor more into this as well. Either way though, really excited to watch these guys all continue to grow and develop this year.
  10. Harper... I’ll give you a maybe on that one. Hildy...... I don’t care who you are, how you throw, what you throw, or how hard you throw, if you can’t hit your spots and have trouble throwing strikes all of a sudden on top of that... you’re going to get flat out murdered on the mound.
  11. MLBTR and Bob Nightengale (?) are reporting that the deal will become final today.
  12. Mostly 1B. The game in the outfield, I don't remember a lot being hit to him or at least nothing challenging.
  13. The games I saw him play with Chattanooga... I wouldn't say he's a Gold Glover, but honestly... he was passable. Rooker is a very athletic guy and moves very well. He may not have great natural defensive instincts, but at the end of the day I truly believe he can be at least adequate.
  14. Try actually looking at his stats... they're not really all that bad.
  15. I literally am unsure of what to think at this moment. I'm sure I'll find something creative to say later, but right now... well, that was an interesting move.
  16. Thanks Seth. A lot of intriguing talent mentioned here. Very excited to see these guys progress as the season starts here soon (maybe not as excited as I am about my son's sophomore season that starts next week and his quest to break 90 on the FB before he graduates) but still very excited.
  17. I'm with you on this one. I've just never been enamored with Archer. My son plays with a few kids just like him, great stuff but they just can't figure out how to pitch. Truly believe that he just can't get over the mental hurdle that separates talent from production. Honestly can't say that I'm all that familiar with Musgrove, but his numbers do seem to support the "Gibson" type of pitcher. The talent seems there, but little things keep him from truly succeeding or being more than an average pitcher (not that that is a bad thing, just wouldn't be worth the assumed asking price from Pittsburgh).
  18. If Deep South doesn't work as a nickname for you... there's always what we called a guy from Georgia in one of my units in the Army, "Peaches". I guess you had to have been there, but he was a hell of a soldier so it wouldn't be meant in a bad way .
  19. Since he's from Georgia... How about "Deep South" Dakota Chalmers. Get it.... "Deep South" Dakota Chalmers Don't worry, my kids groan and roll their eyes as well.
  20. Why in the world would you wish for that? Unless that is just mildly inappropriate satire?
  21. I really like your example of Adam Wainwright. He pitched great out of the pen, especially since the Cards had need of it, then transitioned just fine to a starting role. It’s also pretty cool because Adam is an alumni of my sons high school and is still very involved in the program (and one of the finest human beings I have ever met). But anyway, Brusdar will be fine. The Twins have a need that he can fill so let him fill it and then they will go from there.
  22. I think SD makes a good point. Now that JD is on board, the already potent lineup helps create some cushion that is aided by a favorable early schedule. Should they bolster the staff at some point? Absolutely. But at the very least, the FO can afford to be patient and not move out of desperation... at least not yet .
  23. Huh?? The largest FA contract in Twins history... and the Pohlads are cheap? Is this sarcasm or just Air Force math? Keep that up Chief and folks might think you were actually a Marine .
