  1. Actually, there is one positive... Absolutely love the new site. Really great job guys!
  2. Don't really have any words for this...
  3. Question of the Week: Which under-the-radar Twins prospect are you most intrigued by? He may not be an under-the-radar player to many Twins fans, but to me it would have to be Winder that I'm most intrigued by (a close second would be Ober). Really like his makeup and the increased velo opens your eyes a bit. Going to be fun watching him continue to grow and mature as a player.
  4. Have they been unlucky? Definitely. However... I don't think it's anyone one thing in particular. Rather it seems almost curse like. If it can go wrong, it has. Baseball is a cruel sport. Fickle and flighty on the best of days.
  5. Amen. It's really great to see the minors going again. Something really special about the players and the leagues.
  6. Correct... you can only hear it .
  7. Almost makes me miss Minnesota... almost .
  8. I concur, he is playing like a seasoned veteran right now and is helping the team by being that extra ingredient that all lineups need. (Sound of slow clap from Dads everywhere)
  9. Nice Write up Matthew... but my inner grammar nazi kept making my eyeball twitch. "but irregardless I think we’ll see another “ace” season from the White Sox righty." It's regardless, irregardless isn't a proper word...
  10. Normally I bit my tongue on this kind of thing.... but this is just silly to me. This seems like the usual human attempt to quantify everything. It's a highly competitive sport played at the highest levels, players just get hurt and some more than others. It's just a fact of the game.
  11. I was impressed by Canterino. Not only did he show top of the charts velo, but his command, mound presence and pitch movement looked really good as well. Also, his mechanics looked fundamentally sound. The kid will be just fine if he continues doing what he is doing .
  12. I personally think anyone of them would be a "fit" from a performance and teammate perspective. However, I think they are all going to be asking for longer term deals than the Twins would want to offer them. That being said, if the conditions were right we may see Simmons signed for another one year deal.
  13. “The Old Ones”? Wow we went all old school Warhammer on that one
  14. The thing that actually bothers me about what the former Mariners CEO/Moron said is how little he appears to care about baseball and what it means to folks. Considering what a train wreck the team that occupies space in the NW Hinterlands is and has been.... well, I'm not surprised now after reading what was said.
  15. I have to say (to me and my uneducated opinion), I see them as two sides of the same coin. Both have tremendous potential and upside and I would call them 1A and 1B (or sharing the #5 slot).
  16. Looks good! High School baseball started a month ago for us ( gotta love southern baseball) but it's always great to see the big boys take the field as well.
  17. That would be awesome. It's time like these that make me miss living in the Midwest. Then I think of the snow and.... nope I'm good
  18. We feel your pain. It's been nasty cold and wet down here as well this past week. I think we hit 51 two days ago..... brrrrrr!
  19. I think he'll be fine. The kid can pitch.
  20. I couldn’t figure out why the ball kept getting bigger.... Then it hit me.
  21. Perhaps, I can't/won't defend Rocco's use of him and like I said if the Twins were to cut bait with Tortuga, I would feel sad (even inconsolable for like...10 - 15 seconds), but I would move on the the next Everyman to root for. No one's saying you have to like him, or even root for him for that matter. But sometimes it's ok to not grind on those folks who like to believe that the Puntos and Tortugas will make a huge difference .
  22. I love "La Tortuga". Here's why: I think he provides spark, energy and by all accounts I've come across, is a great club house presenceHe's versatile (yes, that versatility does manifest at a "jack of all trades type")He is an "Everyman" and a great storyLa Tortuga is a cool nickname, and if you don't like it, you obviously hate puppies and your Oma (your a soulless monster)He's fun, and frankly baseball is supposed to be funNow does this mean that he has to be a large and integral part of the roster? I think the team would be in trouble if he was, but he should be a part of it, even if that part is very small. If the Twins decided to part ways with La Tortuga and release him back into the wild, I would also be ok with it, but I do intend on enjoying his (hopefully small contributions since that means that our other big cogs on the team are all running smoothly). It baseball, and baseball is supposed to be fun and allow us to root for the "everyman" because it is right and good. There shouldn't be this much angst over this .
  23. The "Unwritten Rules of Baseball" CLEARLY state: "You are allowed to hate beyond all reasonable thought any rival in your teams division. Categorized under this hate is the expectation that said rival team will fail and that you the fan of the morally superior team MUST write off and disparage ANY possible attempts to improve said team." As you can see... the rules support the aforementioned angst against the Imitation Cubs. As it is (Un)Written, it must be so.
