  1. Amen. It's really great to see the minors going again. Something really special about the players and the leagues.
  2. Correct... you can only hear it .
  3. Almost makes me miss Minnesota... almost .
  4. I concur, he is playing like a seasoned veteran right now and is helping the team by being that extra ingredient that all lineups need. (Sound of slow clap from Dads everywhere)
  5. Nice Write up Matthew... but my inner grammar nazi kept making my eyeball twitch. "but irregardless I think we’ll see another “ace” season from the White Sox righty." It's regardless, irregardless isn't a proper word...
  6. Normally I bit my tongue on this kind of thing.... but this is just silly to me. This seems like the usual human attempt to quantify everything. It's a highly competitive sport played at the highest levels, players just get hurt and some more than others. It's just a fact of the game.
  7. I was impressed by Canterino. Not only did he show top of the charts velo, but his command, mound presence and pitch movement looked really good as well. Also, his mechanics looked fundamentally sound. The kid will be just fine if he continues doing what he is doing .
  8. I personally think anyone of them would be a "fit" from a performance and teammate perspective. However, I think they are all going to be asking for longer term deals than the Twins would want to offer them. That being said, if the conditions were right we may see Simmons signed for another one year deal.
  9. “The Old Ones”? Wow we went all old school Warhammer on that one
  10. The thing that actually bothers me about what the former Mariners CEO/Moron said is how little he appears to care about baseball and what it means to folks. Considering what a train wreck the team that occupies space in the NW Hinterlands is and has been.... well, I'm not surprised now after reading what was said.
  11. I have to say (to me and my uneducated opinion), I see them as two sides of the same coin. Both have tremendous potential and upside and I would call them 1A and 1B (or sharing the #5 slot).
  12. Looks good! High School baseball started a month ago for us ( gotta love southern baseball) but it's always great to see the big boys take the field as well.
  13. That would be awesome. It's time like these that make me miss living in the Midwest. Then I think of the snow and.... nope I'm good
  14. We feel your pain. It's been nasty cold and wet down here as well this past week. I think we hit 51 two days ago..... brrrrrr!
  15. I think he'll be fine. The kid can pitch.
  16. I couldn’t figure out why the ball kept getting bigger.... Then it hit me.
  17. Perhaps, I can't/won't defend Rocco's use of him and like I said if the Twins were to cut bait with Tortuga, I would feel sad (even inconsolable for like...10 - 15 seconds), but I would move on the the next Everyman to root for. No one's saying you have to like him, or even root for him for that matter. But sometimes it's ok to not grind on those folks who like to believe that the Puntos and Tortugas will make a huge difference .
  18. I love "La Tortuga". Here's why: I think he provides spark, energy and by all accounts I've come across, is a great club house presenceHe's versatile (yes, that versatility does manifest at a "jack of all trades type")He is an "Everyman" and a great storyLa Tortuga is a cool nickname, and if you don't like it, you obviously hate puppies and your Oma (your a soulless monster)He's fun, and frankly baseball is supposed to be funNow does this mean that he has to be a large and integral part of the roster? I think the team would be in trouble if he was, but he should be a part of it, even if that part is very small. If the Twins decided to part ways with La Tortuga and release him back into the wild, I would also be ok with it, but I do intend on enjoying his (hopefully small contributions since that means that our other big cogs on the team are all running smoothly). It baseball, and baseball is supposed to be fun and allow us to root for the "everyman" because it is right and good. There shouldn't be this much angst over this .
  19. The "Unwritten Rules of Baseball" CLEARLY state: "You are allowed to hate beyond all reasonable thought any rival in your teams division. Categorized under this hate is the expectation that said rival team will fail and that you the fan of the morally superior team MUST write off and disparage ANY possible attempts to improve said team." As you can see... the rules support the aforementioned angst against the Imitation Cubs. As it is (Un)Written, it must be so.
  20. I love Eddie as much as everyone else. I'm sorry to see him go, but I understand why. I'm also glad that he found a new home. However... the Unwritten Laws of Baseball clearly state "You may root for a favorite player who has moved on to another team. However, under no circumstances may you root for him when he plays against his former team (our Twins). In said case, the former player must strike out or hit weak grounders (Golden Sombrero is preferred) in every AB." I would love to see Eddie do well, just not against the Twins. As you can see above, the rules say so.
  21. I've always liked Wong as a player, and you make a very good case for how he would fit with the Twins. Nothing against him as a hitter, but he's not even in the same ballpark (no pun intended) when compared to Arraez's hit tool. Like you said though, he is a much more instinctive defender. He doesn't quit have Adrianza's defensive flexibility (at least in my mind), but I do think he could be a valuable contributor.
  22. Of course, we are dealing with human beings, so perhaps this wasn't done with LOGIC as a foundation, but with other intentions. Bauer is pretty opinionated and brash. Perhaps he really doesn't like the Twins and wanted to make it clear they weren't an option for him, leverage be damned? Or perhaps Derek Falvey really didn't like Bauer from their time together in Cleveland and had no intention of helping him gain more leverage? I have nothing against Bauer, I think he's a good pitcher. My son loves him and watches his Podcasts and follows a number of things he does as a pitcher... but I can't help but think this thought fits the best with the whole Bauer/Twins dynamic. I think he would pitch well in a Twins Uni, but the key would be does he want to and I've never seen him as interested (and no I don't think it's because FAs hate the Twins).
  23. While it is frustrating to not know for sure what the FO is planning or waiting on (I'm right there with everyone else), I at least have a great diversion to the MLB waiting game... The season has officially started for Georgia HS Baseball as of last week and the #1 team in the state last season (6A) is resuming their quest for a state title. Not that anyone cares, but we're pretty excited .
