  1. No... I don't. Might want to lay off on the conspiracy theories before bedtime .
  2. Don't pick Lesko, Don't pick Lesko, Don't pick Lesko...
  3. True... but they don't tell the whole story. A big part yes, but there is more to it always.
  4. Think a lot depends on "who" the player is. I may be remembering this wrong, but... I believe that a player drafted the previous year (2021 in this case) cannot be traded until after the draft the following year. I've seen a few of these PTBNLs come out as a player who was just drafted but it can't be announced until after the following draft is completed. We shall see I guess.
  5. There's also the thing of the PTBNL from the Friars as well. I have to speculate that this may mean one of the Padres draft picks from last year coming over as well.
  6. Most likely not... Which is probably a good thing. The image of a rubbish bin with an excessive amount of heat will not leave my mind when I picture me as a GM. ??‍♂️?.
  7. True, can't argue the stat part. Maybe Paddack won't work out, but I for one am not going to hope for it and choose to believe that he can be a positive addition (unless he isn't). So for what it's worth, welcome aboard kid... there's the bump. Now let's go do good things .
  8. He knows baseball and is a good coach... probably not a good head coach, but that doesn't take away from his abilities.
  9. That's an understandable reaction given his recent track record. The one caveat I will add to that though is 2020 was a very small sample size, and the underlying numbers for 2021 give some hope that he could/should be ok going forward. Doesn't mean I like the trade, but I do at least understand it.
  10. I was speaking more to Gore's current prospect standing (and shiny new thing status...) which is pretty low right now. Gore has a ton of talent, but the key will be whether or not he ever is able to cash in on that at the major level is unknown.
  11. Gore straight up for Rogers would be a steal (at least in current moment) for the Padres.
  12. Honestly, with the ask of Rogers, he would have to be (at least in my uneducated, slightly moronic mindset).
  13. Unless the ask would be something crazy HUGE for Rogers. It would have to be to be to justify giving up that amount of talent. Paddock alone wouldn't even come close, years of control or not.
  14. That literally makes no sense and is purely anecdotal. Gotta give us more bro'.
  15. Byron Buxton 26.5 Home Runs (Ted's Take - Under): Absolutely going to take over (maybe not by a huge amount but still). If he stays on the field, the numbers will be there. Carlos Correa .280 Batting Average (Ted's Take - Under): I'm going to say this one is probably going to be a Push. Some will depend on how well the others around him are hitting and some will be due to just plain luck/unluck (no that's not a real word, but I'm claiming it for now). I will argue the BA is a useful stat, just not the be all end all, and that he will be sitting between .265 (low end) to .285 (high end). Carlos Correa 25.5 Home Runs (Ted's Take - Over): He'll be at or over this number. He should see a good selection of pitches. Gary Sanchez 25.5 Home Runs (Ted's Take - Over): Same as Correa, He'll be at or over this number. He should see a good selection of pitches as long as he's in the lineup somewhere. Miguel Sano 31.5 Home Runs (Ted's Take - Over): He's too strong not to "hit" this number (hehe). Over Sonny Gray 9.5 Wins (Ted's Take - Over): With a better defense and offense behind him... way over (going to go high and say 15 or 16 wins) Minnesota Twins 81.5 Wins (Ted's Take - Over): Over. Unless the baseball gods curse them again in their desire to crush the sole of man on earth, this team is to good to produce a carbon copy of last years perfect storm of disaster. 85 (low end) to 90 (high end) wins.
  16. How about we let them play a little first before anointing the head of the Prince of Desperation.
  17. I would love to see the Varland brothers square off against one another in Wichita, although I'm not sure Louie and Gus' parents would feel the same way about it .
  18. Fair... But I would argue that he has shown it. Perhaps not for an extended run, but he has demonstrated that he can hit (at least some ).
  19. He'll get his chance eventually. For now, he'll continue to get his work in on a daily basis. Plus I really don't see him staying in AA too long. Not because he'll pass up Lewis (or Lewis scuffles), but rather on his own merits. P.S. - Lewis is a better hitter than you give him credit for and he will be fine as well
  20. Lesko may have some of the best pure talent among HS arms, but.... bleh. I really hope he's not an option for the Twins. Ok, I will admit to some of that aversion coming from the wildly unethical behavior of his HS in flat out recruiting HS athletes from all over Georgia and the South East. I have yet to hear a good story about any interaction with them.
  21. We caught some of the Tennessee/Vandy series this last weekend and they are pretty legit. Dollander is as solid a college pitcher as there is in the country right now (he was straight shoving it Saturday against Vandy).
