<<Gonsalves ERA is 9.39 which would be the worst on the team without the leadership of Belisle and his 10.45.>> Belisle is the morale booster here.

<<Gonsalves hasn't shown me anything. Soft slop that might bewilder AAA batters doesn't fool major leaguers. He reminds me of Tommy Milone. If his control isn't perfect or the ump isn't giving him the corners he's going to get clobbered when he has to throw the ball over the plate. I'm discouraged that the Twins are so high on him.>> Tommy Glavine threw slop all the way to the Hall of Fame.

I wonder if Greg Maddux could make a come back. Had pretty average stuff. Didn't throw that hard, but owned the edges of the plate. He'd throw it to either the inside edge or outside edge with great command, with just enough late movement in or out to keep the hitters guessing. And he seemed to be able to keep one step ahead of whatever the hitter's plan was. Very fun to watch him carve up a game.

Maybe taking some of the "jack rabbit" out of the ball would be good too.

I wish Joe would swing like that more often. You could see he put a little more jolt into that swing. Makes me wonder if he could get his left-centerfield power alley thing going again like he did at the Metrodome. Nice one Joe.

I loved the mob at home plate for Astudillo. That was awesome. I guess you could call him a "non-standard" skill set, but I like him. Doesn't seem bad behind the plate, throws well, has his head in the game, puts the bat on the ball ... always. Runs like he's carrying a refrigerator, but hey, he's a catcher. I missed his CF appearance. That must have looked unique.

Bobby Wilson was our path to getting Chris Gimenez back. C'mon.

Yeah, the keystone combo out of Texas looks real solid. If I'm responsible for drafting Davis and Helman, I'm feeling pretty good about it. Maybe they can progress through the system together. I can dig it. Davis (bats L) improved every year at Texas Tech. Average, On Base and Slugging. Helman (bats R) gave up his senior year at A+M to join the Twins. Good luck in the playoffs boys. Kick it.

Wow, one of the worst Twins games, ever. Just plain ugly. I didn't like the lineup, I didn't like the "opener" thing, I didn't like the way they played, I didn't like seeing a 35 year old catcher pitching who actually wasn't catching but playing 1B. And Matt Belisle hits Beltre with a pitch throw and the ump thinks he's throwing at him. Ha ha. You would think that before they signed him, Pohlad asked how Belisle's arm is. The doctor should have said, "It's dead Jim". This game was so bad, I was checking the hockey Gopher's upcoming schedule.

    Kent Hrbek knows.

You push both runners to the same bag. Only one runner can claim the base. Tag em. Somebody is out. Johnny Bench knows.

Mitch, from one Albuquerque guy to another, when in doubt, tag everybody. -The remote coaching staff

Definitely piggybacking. We have the horses. Piggyback 'till the cows come home. And since Falvine let the cat out of the bag on this, we can assume its more than just a dog and pony show of our stud pitchers. Gotta see who can really pitch seeds before we let some out to pasture. Nuf.

A 1-2-3 9th inning; the Taylor Rogers Experience (TRE). It could be a thing.
  15. AceWrigley
Fernando Romero, May 2. Against Toronto, he pitched 5-2/3 innings, 4 hits, no runs allowed and got the W. His 2nd start, he pitched 6 innings, 9 strikeouts and no runs allowed to get the W again. Pretty good career start I'd say. Looking forward to having him back. Go Twins.

Check out some Ryne Sandberg at-bats. He could look brutal on one pitch, then drill the next one to Wrigleyville. I always thought it was kind of his game plan ... hehe.

Kudos to the Dodger's Brian Dozier who hit game winning sac fly in the bottom of the 12th to beat the Giants 4-3. He also had a double and 2 walks a day after being removed from a game for an irregular heart beat. I guess it was sinus medication being bad; he's ok. Rock on man!

Busenitz, Curtiss and Reed . . . sounds like a law practice. Kudos to Thorpe being promoted to Rochester; last night pitched a quality start but lost 3-2, 9 strikeouts 0 walks, not a bad start. Adrianza at 1B, really? Can I both dislike Logan Forsythe because he is not Brian Dozier, and like him because he is not Brian Dozier? Slated to toe the rubber tonite in the minors: Romero, Enns, Pineda, Enlow.

Looking forward to seeing Andrew Vasquez, the big (6-6, 228) lefty reliever at Chattanooga. Career minor league era of 1.56 in 99 games. Whip of 1.12 and over 13 KO's per 9. Don't know how hard he throws, but he sure has gotten results. Hopefully his stuff plays as he moves up.

Seth, In the GCL writeup: "Frandy Torres got the final five outs, tree on the strikeouts." Ya don't say, mon.

Need to market a new health supplement called FRE. Some type of calming, blood pressure lowering, mellowing pills. Take 2 after the 8th and sit back for the ride. Maybe having Rodney as your closer prepares you more for pressure-filled games. Tom, you coined a winner, "Gibby The Great". May it stick. I live in New England. I love when the Twins beat the Sox (well, white or red really). Go Twins.

Michael Davis out of Texas Tech (2018 24th round pick) was moved up to Cedar Rapids from Elizabethton really quick and has had a terrific start. The Red Raiders have a great baseball program; manager Tim Tadlock was awarded D1 Baseball Coach of the Year Award 2018. Count me in as a Davis fan.

Lets see, we lost our #1 starter, shortstop, catcher, centerfielder and thirdbaseman, and yet were still knocking on the door of playing .500 ball. I think that's pretty amazing. It's been a real challenge to our depth, and unfortunately guys like Vargas and Granite haven't been able to help. I don't know what the trade deadline fallout will look like, but the last months of the season should be fun to watch. To Byron Buxton, please please please get your hit groove on, we need ya.

<<That's a rally silly and mostly meaningless stat, I know, but it's a fun one.>> A rally silly stat, eh? Tom, I think you've coined a new one.
