  1. I was happy for Baddoo for getting picked up by the Tigers and getting a shot on a young squad. When it comes to starting pitching, how did we not hold on to Tyler Wells? At least let him gain some value again after Tommy John and offer him in trades. He held much more value to our team taking up a 40-man spot than just letting him get picked up by somebody for nothin (essentially). Maybe the former pitcher of the year would actually get back to where he was. In the long run, would we have blinked twice holding onto Ober, Wells, and Balazovic instead of Ober, Balazovic, and Rortvedt? Who knows I guess. I just thought that solid pitching was worth more than our second highest rated catching prospect.
  2. Just as Pedro Cerrano's bat likes fast balls; I like this idea verra-much.
  3. All valid and trumping points of what I said. It was a knee-jerk opinion after reading a Beasley article just prior to this one. Opinion hasn't changed. I just need to make comments more relevant.
  4. I hate how a guy like this works all his life for a year like he had and gets the shaft, and a guy like Malik Beasley goes and signs for $60 million.
  5. 1.) As a fan of the game, I love these moves. Brings the minors closer to Minnesota and aligns better. 2.) Thrilled Cedar Rapids is still affiliating. 3.) If I were Elizabethton I'd look into each avenue to sue the Twins. I hate saying that, but there's NO WAY that the owners should have allowed the renovations to take place knowing that they were about to try to contract them. They sold ketchup popsicles to people wearing white gloves in Elizabethton. That money was originally supposed to go towards renovating their police station and to a new sports arena at a local park. The Twins allowed Elizabethton to go on with the ballpark renovations instead.
  6. I hate how teams have such control at absurdly low rates for young players. So when something like this were to come up, I say pay him. That being said, could you imagine signing Oswaldo Arcia to something like this way back when? He'd still be under contract right now after his options. Now, Kirilloff is NOT Arcia, but Arcia was a stud in the minors.
  7. Can't help it... https://www.twinkietown.com/2013/1/4/3833034/an-oral-history-of-nick-punto-sliding-headfirst-into-first-base
  8. Could Fargo-Moorhead front the $20 million? It's worth a discussion, but would be a pipe dream. I really hope the Saints stand up to MLB and say no, but that being said, I wouldn't NOT go. In fact, I'd love it. It's just my frustration with MLB owners is larger than my love for the minors right now.
  9. I want to say I'd enjoy watching Buxton play for the Twins for years to come. However, just when you get used to his game-changing ability, you find out he's going to be sidelined. Numbers probably support, even with his injury filled seasons, he's still one of the most important players on the roster. That being said, I like dependability and durability. He just hasn't been consistent in either. Flashes? Yes, but consistently, no. When it comes down to it for me, I just can't get over how often he seems to be in the dugout and not on the field. It's deflating as a fan. I couldn't imagine how frustrating it is for Byron.
  10. Also, forgot the classic line from The Show '10 commercial... Joe: "Dude! We went fishing. In Cabo." Kevin Butler: "I'm not even allowed in Mexico."
  11. Thank you Steve and Vanimal for bringing up Baseball Simulator and Baseball Stars. The downside with Baseball Stars was when you were crushing it in franchise mode, and the screen would freeze. Pre-teen rage at its finest. Good thing the controllers were attached or they'd have flown across the room.
  12. I could be completely wrong on this, but didn't we throw Dustan Mohr in on this trade? He was a poor man's Nick Punto and predecessor to Brian Dozier down in Hattiesburg. That dude held his own for not being a top prospect.
  13. Gwinnett and Atlanta are a great example. Very nice stadium in Gwinnett. Even with guys like Acuna coming through, their attendance went up some, but it didn't even compare to that of Atlanta. I remember a game where Yoan Moncada, Giolito, and Ozzie Albies were all playing. I literally could count every person in the stands. The minors, even with prospects, doesn't guarantee a big draw, which I selfishly and genuinely enjoy. I'm sure St. Paul would still draw fantastically though, much the same as Lansing or Dayton (even though they have been Low-A). They have much of the same make up.
  14. I think the MLB ownership rings have really exposed themselves. I feel as if they'd try to sell ketchup popsicles with white gloves to the Saints. Saints are too smart for that. If I were the Saints, I'd listen, but say no and to get the hell outta my office. This coming from a minor league enthusiast who LOVES traveling to see affiliated stadiums across the country, not to mention the prospects. The minors have an undeniable charm that can't be matched, and I pray that the MLB owners haven't ruined that for the remaining teams. I saw in the Strib article that they are thinking of putting the Low-A league in Florida and readjusting to help make the Midwest League part of the AAA league. That doesn't make sense, being over half the stadiums in the Midwest League don't have anything remotely close to a AAA stadium. However, the travel in the Florida State League for Low-A does make sense. Could you imagine being a minor league affiliate right now? Sitting in debt from the coronavirus, and now sitting and waiting for a schedule in 2021? Waiting to do anything because now the MLB owners make all the calls instead of your independently owned team? I sure hope they haven't absolutely ruined the minors.
  15. Love seeing this. I was elated to see him excel in big situations. Brody Rodning on the same track?
  16. Maeda, Berrios, Pineda, Dobnak, ?. I'd gamble on Robbie Ray simply because I want to see what Wes Johnson could do with him. Same for Archer. I like Wes Johnson and hope he retires as the Twins pitching coach in 2035.
  17. We loved his energy when he got here. Then that same energy grew tiresome for many fans throughout 2020. No complaints here though. He contributed in a solid way. Good trade at the time. Still pulling for Lewin to put it together down in Miami.
  18. I'm a big fan of Polanco's. I'd be okay of leaving him there while Lewis tries to figure out AAA (if he even starts that high).
  19. Take the jump. Trade him. Kirilloff WILL be a better option in the short term and long term than Sano. If you follow Kirilloff, you wouldn't be surprised by that statement. Also, SANO IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE DAVID ORTIZ. Look up the stats. The only thing they have in common is size and power. Every single intangible goes to Ortiz. Sano is not going to become the next Ortiz. Shedding Rosario and Sano will open up space for players who are disciplined and will pan out if you trust what the FO has been doing. I like what one mentioned about Larnach in LF and Rooker as the 4th option in the outfield/DH/1B. Until Cruz shows significant drop or decline, we need to try to retain him. Let's part ways with this enigma of Sano and move on. Trade him to the National League so he won't come back and mash against us.
  20. I still would like to see Dobnak battling for a spot next year. Love how he approaches games and attacks batters. As for Jeffers, this makes complete sense. Seemed like he wanted in The Show the second he was drafted. Just watching him come up through the minors, from a complete fan perspective, he came off as a player who was only putting in his time at each level. Didn't seem to have room for any BS. Just battled, improved, hit dingers, and advanced. He looked like a major leaguer with a chip on his shoulder from the start.
  21. Bring Nelson back and let him do his thing. Should be talking more on shipping Sano. Yes, we'd lose one of the strongest bats in baseball if we sent Sano in a trade, but we'd also be unloading someone who strikes out at an insane rate, which was even worse this past season. I've mentioned before that what he doesn't bring to the table far outweighs what he does. We have young and very able bats (capable of power) and gloves better than Sano. But he hits massive HR's every once in while.
  22. I hear you, but Sano isn't Ortiz. Ortiz, with the Twins struck out just less than 23% of his at bats (career 20%). Sano's sitting at a career 42%. Ortiz even debuted a little earlier than Sano. It's a common thought, but one we shouldn't be fearful of. Yes, power. He has it. When it comes down to stats, what Sano doesn't have far outweighs what he does have. If shipped Sano and transitioned Kirilloff exclusively to first base, we'd be far better off. We'd make room for Rooker or Larnach to take over for Eddie when he's out as well.
  23. Too frustrating. Easy as a fan to be over it, and say move on. Trade and get some value. For a front office full of analytics enthusiasts? Not a chance. Both are way to valuable to just part ways with. I'd welcome a change from Buxton. Though our defensive outfield depth isn't plentiful, our offensive outfield depth is VERY plentiful. Speed on bases? Buxton does give teams fits, but he could've embraced a well placed bunt once every 10 at bats and welcomed or pushed for stealing more bases. I LOVE watching Buck, but I'm ready to see a change. As for not wanting to see him become a David Ortiz, I don't think we'll have to worry about that. David Ortiz had chronic knee pain from playing on the terrible Metrodome turf. He even said, when he "...went to Boston, it was gone." What scares me is Arraez and tendonitis in that knee. Don't want him to become the Brandon Roy of the MLB.
  24. What about starting Polanco at SS, and breaking Lewis in slowly? Then, when he's ready, bounce Polanco to an Eduardo Escobar utility role.
  25. It's in our DNA, can't not get attached. This organization has put fans through dumpster after dumpster fire and we still continue to come back bright eyed and excited. When we break the schnide, it'll be great, but Bonnes really nailed how so many of us feel.
