  1. To be honest I am discouraged. He is the guy I wanted to Twins to draft that year and I was really hoping the floor was going to be his brother and as of now he is not living up to that (for me). While I am discouraged I am really hopeful he figures something out and becomes Brian Dozier. (a top 3- 12 major league second basemen averaging 3.5+ WAR for 7 plus years) But I am also the guy that hates taking a high school kid in the first round and he takes 7-8 to be a average major league player.
  2. Dozier's OPS RISP 2013 - .841 2014 - .727 2015 - .774 2016 - .856 2017 - .879 2018 - .676 Granted this year is terrible, but over his carrier he hasn't been. Sadly for this year that isn't far off from his overall numbers.
  3. I really hope all his walks are because he is actually working on something or some pitch. Not because he is wild or nit picks around the corners.
  4. My point on that is if Buxton and Sano are not really good next year, the Twins really have nothing next year. Rosario, Kepler and Polanco are the core. No 1B, 2B, or 3B and no real close prospects. Maybe Gordon and Rooker but the odds say no. Berrios, then you have 2 pitchers in the last year of their contract in Gibson and Jake. Then a bunch of young guys in Romero, Gonzo, Meija, etc... The next group of prospects are likely to start coming up in 2019 and hopefully are decent in 20, but really 21 should be more realistic. And I am sorry but if that is the case were the Twins are building for 2021 and beyond good luck filling target field.
  5. Not arguing, but interested in knowing for what year? If you are thinking 2020, I would trade everybody on the team. If you are thinking 2018, you trade for guys. If you are thinking 2019, Gibson and Dozier probably would need to stay, unless you plan on signing multiple big time free agents, which I am not sure are available.
  6. I was at the game as well, and everybody I was sitting around thought the Twins were challenging the out call at home and not blocking. Maybe the announcer should tell the fans what is being challenged. I loved Rodney being brought in, but some of the fans around me hated it. From behind the Twins dugout you could see Cash yelling at the Twins dugout but we really had no idea what was going on. I have to say Kiermaier's catch was Awesome! Also I never want to be at a game with 13 pitching changes again.
  7. Are we as fans really ready to see Gordon? He has a worse OPS in AAA then guys we want cut in the majors? IMO he is a guy us fans are going to love to hate if he isn't really good.
  8. maybe they thought the same thing and he was behind all of the other relief pitchers on the 40 man?
  9. "Instead, it's actually proven to be their savviest move." Really? does it surprise anybody he leads the majors in blown saves?
  10. ESPN has NYY interested in Fulmer (Det), if he is actually available, that is somebody the Twins should be buying.
  11. My two cents, you always trade somebody if the other team is over paying. Next year without Gibson in the rotation, the rotation looks like Berrios and a bunch of fingers crossed and pray for everything to work out. Meaning the Twins will be out looking for keeps fill ins as also. Even with Gibson the rotation looks like it could be weak. The FO needs to make a choice if this is core is what they want to build around (Berrios, Rosoario, Buxton, Sano, Kepler) or if they want to move onto the next core (Rooker, Gordon, Lewis, Kirilloff) and if it is the second choice, then sell everybody but Berrios because that group is looking at 20/21.
  12. Rodney has blown 5 saves this year, which of course leads the major league (actually tied with two others) Of actual closers he has one of the worst or worst save percentage. Rodney is what he is, a veteran closer that is fairly consistent but not great. If Rodney is not traded this was a terrible free agent signing, it is that simple.
  13. Yes/Sure, it means doing something to get more controllable talent. Which we don't have a much of if Buxton and/or Sano bust.
  14. It seems the Twins philosophy is the keep them in the minors until the get Tommy John surgery thus reducing any trade value, then stick them on the 40 man and keep them in the minors. Rinse and Repeat. (yes, this is a post coming from a bitter place)
  15. And if Kiriloff and Lewis end up like Buxton and Sano this year, Maybe the guys we draft next year will be the core of the next possible team. That is why it is to tough to be a buyer or seller this year. If we sell and Buxton and Sano never are stars they are at least a few years from hoping the next group will be the core, if they buy and Buxton and Sano never are the stars they are screwed going forward. IMO I believe we need to be a buyer and buyer of young and controller talent. That should mean everybody on the roster not named Berrios, Rosario, Buxton and Sano (unless someone makes a crazy offer) and everybody in the minors are available.
  16. I would argue they can't because they are not be trained to, is there any evidence that limited pitches have caused less injuries?
  17. Well he pitched the best game in the history of the college world series. He will have that and be a college world series champion the rest of his life, and I am not willing to take that away on faith in pitch counts. I will also say the odds this kid pitches in the major leagues is real low, so what are we actually protecting him from?
  18. I generally agree pitching hasn't been the problem, but there have been too many blown saves. Duke (2), Presley (4), Reed (4), Rodney (4), Rogers (2). But I think most of the blame sits on the shoulders of the offense, and the FO not having any decent players to replace injuries or slumps.
  19. So Kevin Abel (freshman) threw 129 pitches in a complete game 2 hit, 2 walk game. Yet professionals somehow can't throw more than 100?
  20. Isn't it time Kepler goes down to figure things out? He looked completely lost last night at the plate.
  21. Sadly without Buxton and Sano playing up to the level everybody hoped, this team is kind of screwed. Nobody that will return a good to great prospect and nobody really ready in the minors. (I like Gordon and Wade but are they really guys that turn a team around, or more of a young guy replacement type for a while to supplement stars?)
  22. After looking at baseball reference, Liriano has 9.5 WAR since leaving, and Eduardo only has 6.6.
