  1. After looking at next years FA class it is basically a bunch of great position players and Kershaw. I thought there was a couple more "aces" but I stand corrected.
  2. So if the Twins manage to sign Cobb or Lynn and then get a big fish in FA next year, will the FO still be considered pretenders? If they don't feel right about a 6 year deal with Darvish I don't blame them. We will just have to wait and see..
  3. Would like to see Rondon and Watson brought on
  4. I'd like to see Rogers and Jay the primary lefties in the pen next year. I think Jay will be solid
  5. I think it has to be either Santana or Gibson. However, the Yankees will have faced Erv about 2 weeks prior to the WC game. Couple that with the fact that he is a fly ball pitcher in the band box that is Yankee stadium. Conventional wisdom clearly points to Erv, but, do you consider Gibson?
  6. If they win tonight they will be sitting pretty. Their two best starters going tomorrow and Sunday. I do hope they skip Colon on Tuesday and go Mejia, Gibson and Santana against Cleveland next week to try and salvage 1 win against the Indians.
  7. I am too but Oakland has been sneaky good lately. 11-3 in their last 14
  8. I feel like I saw Melville was averaging around 96 on his fastball? Could that play up in the pen? He definitely looked like he had some nerves yesterday. Turley as well was averging pretty good on his fastball velo. I think you have to see what these guys have cause you can't teach velocity.
  9. Just put the ball in the air in the 1st and the 7th and we are ahead 4-3, wow.
  10. I don't think Garver gets the call until Gimenez is traded this month and I don't know if they even trade him if we are still in the race.
  11. Dozier and Kintzler to D-backs for Braden Shipley + ?
  12. After taking a closer look at Straily I see he is outperforming his peripherals and has basically his whole career, but he would be an upgrade in our rotation as it currently sits IMO. Ramos has been pretty solid the last few years, very good K/9, but has struggled this year. What would your offer be?
  13. I would go after Straily and Ramos from Miami. Straily is controllable through 2020 I believe and having a good year and Ramos through next year? Not sure on that. This fills two holes and neither are rentals. I would package either Gordon or Polanco with Jorge, Granite, and maybe Stewart/Jay. Does that get it done? More? Less?
  14. Straily is who I would look at, how much would he cost?
  15. I think he would cost a lot more than that. I've read the Sox are asking for guys like Martes and Tucker from the Astros or Torres and Frazier from the Yankees as just the starting points..
  16. They should target Madson and Doolittle. This would add 2 more proven closers although I think I'd make Madson the closer with Doolittle and Kintzler as the setup guys. Would a package of Polanco, Palka, Ynoa, and maybe someone like Graterol be enough? I know Madson is controlled through next year and Doolittle has some options coming up I believe
  17. I don't get all the negativity for Grossman, I mean the guy is 2nd on the team in wRC+ behind only Sano. I realize that's not the end all be all stat to use but the guy is playing very solid..
  18. I noticed this was on baseball-reference. On fangraphs Kepler's WAR is only 0.9, or half of what baseball-reference has him at. My questions are: 1. why such a big difference between sites? and 2. which site is best to use?
  19. Question: is xFIP a good stat to use for a pitcher? Not very familiar with it but I noticed Berrios has an xFIP of 4.16 while an ERA of 0.59 and only 4 hits allowed. Does it have to do with the amount of fly balls he's allowed?
  20. I don't think the two outcomes are necessarily dependent of each other.
  21. I realize this guy's numbers are terrible and he probably won't be any good. But, he wasn't exactly handed any favors for his start last weekend as far as being rested. "Wilk’s outing came under sub-optimal circumstances, to say the last, as Fred Kerber of the New York Post detailed. The lefty flew from Las Vegas to Albuquerque (with a stop in Denver) last Saturday, only to learn he was needed in the Majors, at which point he flew to Los Angeles and took a midnight flight to New York to start against the Marlins at 1pm."
  22. In a couple weeks when it's up to .860
  23. Don't look now but Eddie is up to .763 OPS before his third AB
