  1. I hope he washed his hand when he got back to the clubhouse, it looked like it may have gotten drenched in one of his bodily fluids. Hard to tell if it was saliva or vomit though.
  2. He hasn't played an inning in the outfield at Rochester this year, I'd feel better if he had. For the most part, particularly this year, when the Twins play out of position, they haven't performed well on offense, and Parmelee has been no exception. I think a recall could make sense if his at-bats mostly come at the expense of Doumit, but Morneau is playing better, and surely the Twins aren't going to limit his time if they have eyes on moving him this month or in the off-season.
  3. I have less of a problem with Butera taking a bench spot than I do with the fact that the pitching staff is such crap that management feels the need to keep 13 pitchers on the active roster. But really, who needs another bench bat when you can count on clutch hits from Casilla and Carroll?
  4. Hope the guy who did Joe Nathan's surgery isn't working this one. Wasn't it cleaning out his bone chips and bone spurs what caused his tendon to become detached?
  5. Ha, did those yellow-toothed morons realize they brought more publicity to the rip-off song by coming here? I'd never heard of it and likely would never have even bothered opening up a link to see it if they hadn't gotten their knickers in a bunch. Anyone check out the Leeds website to see if they've tried to get a "We're going to win Leeds" song started? Or do they just use a grocery store bulliten board as their community forum?
  6. Casilla didn't quite pan out as hoped when the Twins traded J.C. Romero for him, but if this is the end of the line for him, it was a rather insignificant trade but still one that favored TR and the Twins. Six years and 2.2 WAR I suppose beats the one year of .2 WAR for the Angels and Romero. I've been against Ryan lately, but this one goes in his win column I suppose.
  7. Yeah, this always seemed like a strange architecural decision. It's almost like they want the rubes to get right up to the legends club to see what they're missing then send them back down and up and around. Rub our nose in the fact that the big spenders don't have to go out of their way but the rest of us need to make a lengthy detour. The plaza also does seem a little crowded to fit more entertainment, but that could be remedied too. I don't know why they felt comfrotable building part of the plaza over the 394 exit but left the other half open. I don't see a reason why at some point the plaza couldn't be expanded over all of 394 all the way up to Target Center.
  8. I still listen to KFAN, but only PA and Common attempt to give the Twins proper coverage, and one is rarely critical because he's got so many connections to the team, and the other is rarely positive because sarcasm is his bit. Otherwise you get stuff like the Power Trip that gets hijacked by Cory Cove every day trying to make everyone think stuff that he doesn't care for is boring and pointless and the only league that matters is the NBA. Sorry John, but I'm still ticked off at that guy for spoiling the Olympic results yesterday morning without giving any spoiler alert warnings. He said it so smugly it was easy to tell he was enjoying ruining the broadcast later in the evening for anyone who was planning on watching.
  9. Seems kind of strange they bought a radio station and it took them 6 years to decide to give the station the broadcasting rights considering shortly after, they tried to start their own television station to have exclusive broadcasting rights to the Twins.
  10. Andrew Friedman, but only on the condition that he has full control over scouting/development. He oddly doesn't work under a contract, you'd think at some point a team would come along and make him an offer he can't refuse. If the GM's salary was a big deal to St. Peter, I'd have no problem if it came out of the expected payroll. A good GM is better than an extra $5M or so to spend on the free agent market if you ask me.
  11. TR's only given one starting pitcher a multi-year deal who didn't wear a Twins uniform the season before.
  12. Does anyone know of a non-collegiate position player who wasn't forced to spend at least one full season at Beloit? I can't find any, though I don't have a very efficient way to look. Perhaps they've moved a defensive minded catcher due to need, but I don't think they've caved in when it comes to other players.
  13. I haven't defended Ryan much lately but he needs some defense here. There was already another thread showing how the Knoblauch trade is still paying dividends. Bobby Kielty for Shannon Stewert was a great trade, Dave Hollins for David Ortiz was a shrewd move as was Roberto Kelly for Joe Mays. He traded Rick Aguilera to the Red Sox and got two prospects back knowing full well that Aguilera was going to re-sign with the Twins in the offseason. You'd get little arguement that recent moves have been poor, but that's mostly due to inactivity. He has seemed to be gunshy which may have led to the indecisiveness and no/poor returns with the Hunter and Santana exits, but he certainly does have more than just one positive trade under his belt.
  14. \ Wow, kick a guy who hasn't even posted in this thread? Perhaps Ryan has accomplished the 2 goals stated above. I think the frustration in this thread stems from the assumed outcome of the statetd goals. Fixing the problem with the medical evaluations. If that outcome has been achieved than goal two was not accomplished because no solution has been communicated to the public.
  15. Since neither side even attempted to bring up an extension, I'm guessing neither party has much interest in a reunion.
  16. But the other GM's learned this FROM Ryan. Early this century, the Twins were always hailed as the model franchise of building from within and not giving away your top guys for rentals. Now every other GM has pretty much adopted the same philosophy and Ryan has lost his advantage when it comes to this stratagy.
  17. He's just looking for an arguement. Check the second post where he called Dempster stupid and complained about how the Cubs wouldn't have gotten anything for him last year. It only took him four minutes to change his mind.
  18. If they lose in the first round they ARE going to look for ways to put them over the top by upgrading weaknesses, just like every club. As it turns out they have a weakness at CF and leadoff, which is why they had interest in Span in the first place.
  19. Is that what I said? I don't remember doing so if I did. Can you find that quote?
  20. Keep Span. The Reds may reconsider if their leadoff hitters stink on national TV in a first round loss in the playoffs.
  21. He probably declined to comment on trade scenarios but no one could understand him with Mitch Williams jabbering in the background.
  22. Yeah, makes you want to start shopping the whole Twins bullpen now. That seems really insane, the Cardinals must have written Cox off, but really he was promoted to AAA, and has struggled in a half season. That happens to prospects all the time.
  23. The Marlins just got Zack Cox, BA's preseason #88 for RP Edward freaking Mujica. Ha! Good luck to any of us trying to predict trade scenarios now.
  24. He has shown little power, speed or on base skills at any level thus far. I don't understand what people are seeing in him.
  25. Yeah, Burton's been great but he's found money. If the Rangers overpay let's do it! There's not a member of the bullpen I wouldn't move for a good deal. Talk Perkins and Burnett too.
