  1. I still have a concern though. He's being limited to 80 pitches now, but if the Twins call him up and are actually playing meaningful games, are they really going to pull him after 5 innings if he's dominating? If they are going to allow him start thrwoing 100 pitches again later in the season at the MLB level, I'd think adding 20% more pitches than what he's been accustomed to throwing would make him even MORE susceptible to an injury.
  2. No. Not because he couldn't, but because there are 6 bullpen arms in Rochester all worthy of a call up and that doesn't even take into account the possibility that Correia, Deduno or Pelfrey may be forced into the pen when they lose their rotation spot. Even if he's better, the Twins often promote/infill with the "next guy in line" philosophy.
  3. It's not a bad idea to help save his arm for deeper into the season, but I have to think limiting his pitches to 80 per start may actually hurt when it comes to building up arm strength.
  4. http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2014/6/6/5786338/mlb-draft-grades-2014-first-round It's terrific.
  5. Reusse and Dan Barreiro drive me crazy with this crap. 10% of fans complain about a topic like this and these guys have to complain about the complaining. Wow, so damn sorry that you can't get 100% agreement among fans. Some people will complain about anything, why is that news? Others may have concerns about Pinto's playing time or a Vargas promotion. So what? This is the small minority, stop complaining about the complainers. They will always be there, and frankly, this kind of makes you one of them.
  6. I don't think we've seen the last of Kubel. The Twins have got to be among the best teams at retaining a relationship with their past players. Coaching, advising or broadcasting, it seems the team will always find room for an ex player if the player is interested in sticking with baseball.
  7. I never click on Bleacher Report propaganda because I hate slideshows but I couldn't help myself. This was not a slideshow. Is that new? Did those click hungry hacks finally do away with those?
  8. Had it been another shoulder injury I would think so, but I'm going to bet he's not going to waste all that upperbody rehab because of a lower body injury he should be able to recover from. Though Jason Bartlett may beg to differ. He should come at bargain basement prices next year.
  9. Hicks has hit better since his return from a DL stint though he is still lacking in the power department. He has a positive .361 OBP (.390 last ten) but a disappointing .339 SLG (.303).
  10. I'm weary of this draft, but if the Twins give Cederoth, Steele and Curtiss a chance to start, I'll probably be pleased. And I think they will. Maybe Reed too. I wouldn't be surprised if Sam also gets a shot, though he doesn't seem to be all that electric.
  11. What do you mean? He put Kubel in the OF and Santana at DH. Kubel needed the exercise I guess? Why else would Kubel possibly be in the field and Santana DH? There were multiple ways to avoid this.
  12. Who was the last Twin's pick who didn't have to go to the rookie leagues right away? Levi Michael I think. I don't think they've let anyone go straight to A ball the last two years, not even the "fast track" college arms.
  13. Dang it, I was just going to say the Twins should draft Joey Pankaka because then I might get my four-year-old interested in watching baseball. At least until he realizes he isn't food.
  14. I suspect this is happneing. However at some point you do have to stray from your draft board. I can't imagine an NFL team picking 7 QB's. Though it might have been a wise move for the Vikings.
  15. He's been dead to me since he told Ryan to screw off last year. I'm pretty sure that was a direct quote. Please tell me that you can pay closers you pick in the first 5 rounds way underslot.
  16. Hmmm, and this one doesn't even carry a 9.0 K/9 as a college closer?
  17. Thinking about turning this off. So we take Jake Reed when two HOF'ers in Carter and Moss were still available?
  18. That makes me wonder, are Chargois and Bard still in witness protection? Or will we get to see them finally?
  19. I actually loved it in 2012. Mostly because the Twins seemed willing to give most of those guys a chance to start and they didn't have the arm abuse that most college starters had. Hasn't worked out to well so far though. I guess after they saw Melotakis and Duffy struggle to maintain velocity and strikeouts they said, let's get guys who throw even harder!
  20. I think last winter we were guessing who would be this year's Jon Gray and shoot up the draft boards. Cederoth was my guess. Then he tanked and got moved to the pen lol.
  21. Wow, another closer. To be fair though, I would have killed to have Cederoth in round 2 before the season started. He might get a shot to start.
  22. I do hate the implication that Correia has to play because they paid him too much. He's the flipping on field manager, he's supposed to want the best players and not give two #$& about money. I further am opposed to this line: "The guys in Triple-A have had their ups and downs, too. They’ve had some good starts and bad starts, and believe me, we know where they’re at.” Is he seriously trying to compare Correia's struggles to minor hiccups May, Meyer, Johnson and Darnell have had? I agree with the above posters who say Gardy shouldn't be expected to rip Correia in public, however while he's defending him he throws the AAA guys under the bus? What the hell? Edit: Sorry for the plagiarism iTwins, I promise your post wasn't up when I started typing mine!
  23. I'd like this pick better if I actually thought the Twins would fast track him, but they are so damn reluctant to rid themselves of the most fungible kinds of baseball players: relief pitchers. Seriously, Pino, Hoffman, Guerra, Ibarra, Achter, Pressly and Thompson can't get a look over Matt Guerrier, who did nothing to deserve a call up?And that's saying nothing about Burton, Swarzak and Tonkin's struggles.
  24. Detroit for another. Chance Ruffin and Corey Knebel come to mind. No team was more tied to Burdi than Detroit was either.
