  1. If Trump looking foolish last night isn't enough to keep him out of Washington I think we're going to look back and realize there wasn't anything that could be done, too many people wanted a "non-politician" even if it's a horrible person who can't speak in coherent sentences, lies with every breath and makes terrible decisions daily. I'm still extremely confident he won't win and even optimistic that he's going to get annihilated. Still, pending how our country is doing in the next four years, the Democratic party might be wise to actually start grooming a non-traditional, non-political candidate if for nothing else than to combat any growing national dissent against the current political system. It would be awful to start having celebrity puppets as presidents, but I guess I'd rather it be someone like Jon Stewart.
  2. You should clarify for non-boxing fans that this kind of score is a real beating.
  3. Is it too much to ask for all of these guys to pan out?
  4. You've givin me a headache. http://www.bizchickblogs.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/stirring-the-pot.gif
  5. Got it. Yeah it would take some intense investigation to determine if it's the drafting or developing that is the bigger issue. Hopefully new leadership hedges their bet and says that both areas are in desperate need of renovation
  6. "and I also wouldn't be surprised if Rob Antony stayed on in one of those lesser roles so as to maintain some sense of continuity." As far as I'm concerned, there needs to be no attempt made to maintain any continuity. If having no continuity leads to chaos and anarchy in the first year, well, it wouldn't look any different than what we have now. Blow. It. Up. I'm also still not sold on the idea that Molitor is a lock to be back. For those that have been clamoring for Sandy Alomar Jr., well here's your conduit.
  7. But when you have an organization that doesn't feel comfortable paying for more than a mid-rotation starter in free agency, missing in the draft is a pretty big deal. You can go the trade route, but then you have to give up another valuable commodity. For a thrifty team, I'd think being able to draft and develop your own pitchers should probably be priority number 1. Of the three methods of acquiring talent, it's basically the "free" option.
  8. I don't know that McLeod's background had much to do with managing payroll though, from all we've heard, his biggest skill is drafting and developing. That skill seems pretty transferable regardless of payroll. I also wouldn't think he'd interview if he had financial reservations. Plenty of other candidates refused the interview.
  9. I'm considering that option too, as much as I want to watch. We've already seen Trump can't debate, however we've also already seen that it doesn't matter because his supporters would still vote for him even if he stood up there without saying a word drooling on his tie for two hours. Any vote not for Clinton is a vote for Trump. I'm pretty convinced that most folks realize Trump shouldn't be president even diehard conservatives, however if they voted for a Democrat they'd feel like they would have to re-examine their personal identity, and self introspection isn't something that is comfortable for many people. If Trump were a Democrat running against John Kasich, I'd have moral obligation issues also, though I'm pretty confident I'd get over them in time to save our country come November.
  10. No, it's that he can only play 1B or DH and is going to be starting as long as Molitor is managing. The Twins have numerous other young guys that could use that spot for development and evaluation.
  11. I'd think 1 and 3 would be concerns regardless of who gets hired, though I'd think it's pretty safe to assume that everyone who has interviewed already has accepted #3 if that's something the Twins plan on imposing. McLeod is also my top choice but Falvey would be my second. However I've never met either man and didn't know who either of them were until about a month ago. Most businesses don't hire on resume's alone.
  12. To me it read like he accidentally left out an adjective, such as "above average". --The Twins need to cut the cord with Kennys Vargas, Byung Ho Park or both. The DH spot needs to be available for Mauer and Sano.-- --I do think Sano is sincere about wanting to lose weight and stay on the field. His challenge is to keep the big picture in focus.-- Well the Twins challenge should also be to keep the big picture in focus; what becomes of Joe Mauer should have no impact on the rest of the other 39 (24) roster spots. If the team thinks it's a good idea to part with Vargas and Park, that's fine, but it can't be because they have to save a DH spot for Mauer, that's just short-sighted.
  13. I will too, but I could see that show going off the rails really, really easily.
  14. Connie Mack graciously let himself keep his job 9 times after 100 loss seasons. He did fire himself after his tenth such season. Molitor too should consider the owner/manager option.
  15. I'd prefer a genuine idiot to have a beer with, but to run our country? That's just cutting off your nose to spite your face. No, I take that back, I don't think I could even handle that level of lunacy for one beer.
  16. Right, but you don't take it up directly with your co-worker, you call the police and it's the authorities that handle it. You don't have any obligation to spill your guts to the media, in fact most major corporations have rules and training for employees about not discussing employee or company business in both traditional and social media.
  17. I think it probably has to do with the fact that professional athletes come from all corners of the country while the residents of the locality tend to have more uniform customs and values. It's quite possible a Minnesotan player, say Glen Perkins, would have been less supportive. Those that didn't defend him but didn't speak out probably are just like the rest of us. Few people want to cause an uncomfortable work environment.
  18. Don't worry, in 20 years the network overlords will have implanted both sensory gratification and mainstream withdrawal chips in your brain so you will crave and feel like you enjoy the poorly written garbage.
  19. With our luck, it would be the Wizards though.
  20. Most of which are smart enough to not to out themselves to their diverse group of teammates and publicly state a poorly worded opinion that they know will bring headaches to their employers.
  21. If a low point falls in Target Field and nobody is around to hear it, did it actually happen?
  22. LB whipped out his Johnson every chance he got. I think he was the life of the party.
  23. As for his defense, Sano doesn't have great range, but to me it at least seems passable. Fangraphs also shows his RngR is below average but actually better than Trevor Plouffe's. Clearly Sano's biggest fielding issue is his throwing accuracy. I'm no expert, but unless there is a mental (Kno)blauch, I'd think repetition may help fix a lot of that.
  24. When we had the big hubbub about Sano not losing enough/any weight last off season I said somewhere that I wasn't too worried, as young people often don't heed life-choice advice until they've learned first hand that they made a mistake. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count how many times I was giving advice as a young(er) man only to ignore it and suffer the consequences. I'd like to think learning the hard way made me better for it; my money is on the belief that Sano has, or at least soon will see the light.
  25. He's not the only one. Too many pitchers have struggled for reasons that are barely if at all detectable. I know we are currently operating under the assumption that the field staff will be back, but on the off chance that the new suits convince Pohlad to let them start anew with the coaching staff, I'd like to see what the new guys do with guys like Tonkin, May, Chargois, Gibson and Barrios. Their stuff isn't coming close to matching their results, something just doesn't add up.
