  1. Or just keep Dozier. Which would be my vote if that was the best the Dodgers will do.
  2. Definitely, however it probably starts with making sure they choose the best in-state players. NDSU isn't winning any recruiting races with the U, but the U has overlooked far too many Minnesota kids that NDSU has been happy pick up and send along to the NFL.
  3. Brooksbaseball says the 4 seemer decreased last year from 16 to 13%. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/outcome.php?player=502043&b_hand=-1&gFilt=&pFilt=FA|SI|FC|CU|SL|CS|KN|CH|FS|SB&pFilt=FA|SI|FC|CU|SL|CS|KN|CH|FS|SB&time=year&minmax=ci&var=pcount&s_type=2&endDate=01/06/2017&startDate=06/16/2009 Not that it much matters to me, we both agree that it's at the expense of his change and slider. His change is his best pitch, he needs to use it more, especially in 2 strike counts.
  4. I'd rather the team try to cure Gibson of his sinkeritis first. If they heal him then they can see about fixing other pitchers with his ailment and vaccinating the ones that have yet to contract the disease.
  5. No Burdi huh? Not due to injury I hope. I thought his final injury last year was only a bone bruise.
  6. If he's not going to be a bat miss guy the Twins don't need to be interested. Besides TD probably can't handle any more of my rants about how terrible the sinkerball is and how it should be banned by any team that likes to prevent runs.
  7. Wisler hasn't been able to strike anyone out since 2013 and he gives up hits by the bushel. I don't see it, I don't think he belongs anywhere near the American League.
  8. Baseball Prospectus: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=30675
  9. Good stuff, I can get behind Albies, though I have next to no interest in Wisler or Blair. I'm done with guys who don't have the ability to even be league average at missing bats. I'd want some of the guys in the minors. I've mentioned before though, I really have stopped trusting Braves pitching prospects. They are at nearly a 100% bust rate the last decade or so with Tehran thus far being the only exception though still under-performing expectations. They've had a ton of other hyped guys and they all have flamed out to this point. I think there's been a lot of injuries, but is that bad luck or improper use? I think there has also been a ton of over-hype. Seriously, why in the world were Wisler or Blair top 50 prospects let alone top 100? They couldn't miss bats in the minors and Wiser wasn't even that good at preventing runs. Atlanta seems to be extremely good at marketing their prospects to those that make lists.
  10. I guess I don't see the similarities between Fleck and Brewster unless people are just thinking of the energy. Brewster hadn't been a head coach, in fact he was basically just a recruiter for Mack Brown who left for one year to go to the NFL for the sole purpose of learning the game. Fleck got a HC job at the age of 32 and did something with it. Plenty of head coaches are fiery and energetic so I think the only reason to compare him to Brewster would be because the Gophers tend to pick conservative Midwest demeanors. Fleck seems to have substance while Brewster clearly didn't. The first thing this guy did when he got the WM was piss a lot of people off by rescinding a ton of scholarship offers, it didn't sit well but it meant he knew how he wanted his team to look; he had a vision, Brewster never had a vision or any kind of organizational plan. I think you guys might have got lucky with this one, this guy looks like he knows what he's doing to me.
  11. Does anyone know why Albies is thought so highly of? He's a tiny slap hitter and almost certainly won't develop power, he has some speed but doesn't have the biggest arm. It sounds like he can play SS but 2B might be his best bet. Is he only ranked high because the Braves pushed him so hard and he's a 19-year-old in AAA with a decent batting average? I know I'm the only one who's in the dark, but what is it about this guy that everyone seems to love?
  12. Welcome to our board! I'm guessing you're not going to find many posters here too amenable to your offer though.
  13. But again, the Twins likely have an offer also. Dozier is on the market, but then so too are the players that the Dodgers are offering. I'm saying if the Dodgers are unwilling to meet the Twins asking price, they should walk away, the Twins have already said they are done shopping and want this wrapped up.
  14. Here's my recycled idea from a couple weeks back: Twins to get: De Leon, Bellinger, Stewart, Ross Stripling, Dalton Pompey and Sean Reid Foley Dodgers to get: Dozier, Danny Barnes, TJ Zeuch and Vlad Guerrero Jr. Blue Jays to get: Santana, Eddie Rosario and Yasiel Puig and $$$
  15. I assume the Twins also have an offer, I'm not sure why the Twins have to be the ones to blink.
  16. So it appears the Dodgers may value Urias, Bellinger, Alvarez and Buehler to the point they deem them untouchable. Four seems like a lot, but hey, that's their perogatuve I guess. If all reports are accurate, De Leon is not untouchable and Stewart possibly not as well. But the rub is that the Dodgers don't want to give up both as they can contribute right now. So that basically makes for five untouchable guys which frankly doesn't sound very reasonable. I get the pain that comes with giving up prospects, but it looks to me like the Dodgers have to decide if they more value upside later or production now. If they can't decide, it's time for them to walk away and sit on their hands.
  17. That is a good point. I wonder if it's possible that one or both teams actually put a higher value on Stewart than a Buehler or even an Alvarez due to Stewart's ability to contribute now. It does always seem that front offices put much more weight on "what can you do for me now" than pundits do. Of course the Twins could help remedy the Dodgers starting pitching depth should either team be interested in expanding the trade.
  18. Because it's not an auction. The Twins don't have to give him away. I want a trade to happen, but if the Dodgers are stubbornly sticking with a lowball offer, I'm not above keeping him even if only to show the Dodgers that they aren't going to get a bargain simply because luck and happenstance are working for them by eliminating other suitors.
  19. The Dodgers are also looking for RH power, and LeMahieu is lacking the power part. Meanwhile Cano, Murphy and Kipnis are lacking the right handed part.
  20. Pretty sure this is the right thread for this . First Megyn Kelly leaves Fox News, now Greta Van Susteren is going to MSNBC. Geez, if I didn't know better I'd be tempted to think there's something toxic about Fox News that makes women think they can do better elsewhere.
  21. Best song on the album is this one though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h9Zki_4e98
  22. The team has different talent evaluators now. And for the record, I think a lot of May still. Either way, just because you struck out last at bat it doesn't mean you should keep it on your shoulder the rest of your career. You got to keep taking hacks, it'll payoff eventually.
  23. I get it and I tend to agree since the Nationals know more about Giolito than anyone else. However I'm going to guess if a Twins/Dodgers trade goes down, there will be the same write ups both in favor and against the trade for either team no matter who is included. Basically, there will be people who will be writing retrospectives detailing all the warts of the Dodgers prospects and why it made sense to include them.
  24. It could be, but I'd also wonder what these same people would be saying if pre Sale and Eaton trades the White Sox fans were asking for what they later got. Chat December 6, 2016 12:37 UnreasonalbeInsaneWhiteSoxFan: What kind of return can the White Sox get for Eaton? How about Giolito, Lopez and Dunning?!?! Dave Cameron: Go die a painful death and take your lunacy with you.
  25. It didn't seem to impact Murphy much.
