  1. I'd guess it would be Mejia over Duffey if they're going to bump Santiago. If only to keep a lefty in the rotation.
  2. I meant neither. I meant that despite your insistence that it is unlikely or impossible, Eduardo Nunez returned a value just about everyone here agreed was at least equal, if not more, than his value last summer. Why is it next to impossible for Dozier to do the same this summer?
  3. No, I'll let you handle the spin, since that's completely bastardizing the point.
  4. I get that I'm in the minority regarding De Leon, but that's hardly the point. People are arguing that there is slim to no chance Dozier could get better value later. People are trying to change the argument to a De Leon/Mejia comparison when in fact it has nothing to do with Dozier's value and only used to point out that trading Dozier later can still be done.
  5. I said last off season before we knew if Sano would lose the weight that it's rare that a 22-year-old who has had success at what he's doing doesn't think he can continue at what he's doing. I predicted last year that Sano would not fix any weight issues until they actually impacted him. At least for me at that age, advice from someone with experience was most likely going to fall on deaf ears until I'd actually made a mistake for myself and suffered the consequences.
  6. While I agree De Leon has higher odds, I'd probably disagree with saying "much" higher odds, mostly because lefties have a built in advantage. But really the valuation of Mejia was hardly the point, he was bought with a Eduardo Nunez, Dozier under similar circumstances should command much more due to his longer track record of success alone. I've never said the Twins will be able to get a better deal than De Leon later, but plenty of people are painting it as a near impossibility when that is far, far from the truth.
  7. Prospect A is a soft tossing righty with a change up and a sore shoulder. Prospect B is a soft tossing lefty with four pitches and no known shoulder issues. AAA hitters getting fooled by a change up? Unheard of. Would I take De Leon over Mejia? Sure. But the gulf isn't so vast not to try to do better than both later.
  8. Eduardo Nunez of all people got a prospect of not much considerable difference last summer. Even though some of our posters hold De Leon in much higher regard than I, the fact that an infielder most people here wanted to DFA last winter got a borderline top 100 prospect is pretty suggestive that trying to move Dozer this summer isn't quite the fool's errand being presented.
  9. Geez, something like that would NEVER happen with a Minnesota sports franchise!
  10. Yeah, might not be a bad idea to target another young QB in the draft.
  11. Does the ATM next to the black jack table count?
  12. What moves were there to make? The free agent class was awful. If you're still grousing about the Twins not taking the low-ball De Leon offer, well then it's only fair to play your ERA game with him as well. His ERA was also terrible last year. Sorry, but some problems do not have immediate solutions.
  13. Today is World-Wide Punch a Nazi day. Though full-disclosure according to most news outlets, Punch a Nazi day is every day now. http://www.feministe.us/blog/archives/2017/01/26/why-im-ok-with-punching-Nazis/ https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/21/us/politics/richard-spencer-punched-attack.html?_r=0 http://www.rawstory.com/2017/01/is-it-ok-to-punch-a-nazi-leading-ethicists-weigh-in/ So Hurrah!
  14. Here's 2016's bonus pool: http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/2016-mlb-draft-international-bonus-pools/#3bAHm8QRhpt2BZyL.97 It doesn't look like the total pools have been reduced, just the slots for the guys at the top, so it does look like there is about the same amount of money to go around, but it just can't as easily be hogged by the top guys.
  15. The Twins already have one sinkerballer in the rotation.
  16. Smart move. Now that he's a politician they call that kind of convincing "campaign contributions" not bribes.
  17. The math doesn't have to be exact for me to get excited as this is what I was hoping for. A 2M discount with these lower pools might be a bit steep for the 1st overall pick, but I'm still pretty confident the that if the Twins are smart, they can offer top 10-15 money to someone at pick #35. I can't wait, the Twins can be the jerks of the draft if they choose. And I so hope they choose to be jerks!
  18. Not that joke in particular, but let us know, we might have to delete the whole Sports Bar Forum to protect you from your past!
  19. What do we need a State Department for now? I thought it was clear that we're losing all contact with the rest of the world for the next four years.
  20. You're just saying that because he was a murderer and was proud of it.
  21. I'd also imagine that bad teams are perhaps more likely to sign bad free agents.
  22. Perhaps even De Leon's mother as well. He certainly is hyping him as some kind of can't miss elite arm.
  23. ***** Moderator Note ****** Let's keep this one on topic, like many of you surely were, I was suprised when I scrolled to the top of the page I saw this was actually an article about Jorge Polanco and the shortstop position. Let's take the same rehashed Brian Dozier stuff back to one of the dozen threads we already have on that subject.
  24. I think you're mistaken, Rick Knapp was the Dodgers minor league pitching coordinator, he's the one talking and he has no affiliation with the Twins. He references Jeff Pickler who the Twins hired from the Dodgers, but Pickler was not interviewed for this article. It's simply a Minnesota reporter talking to a former Dodger employee, this isn't anyone from the Twins talking.
