  1. I guess I wouldn't try to rate it anywhere on the likely - unlikely scale, but I'd say the fact that plenty of us at the age of 24 thought we knew way more than we actually did only to look back at those years with quite a bit of chagrin and resentment. Most of us turn out OK in the long run.
  2. So if I'm reading between the lines correctly, you think they should go straight to Chattanooga.
  3. I've always had an affinity for Bautista. So I probably would have provided some undeserved and poorly placed enthusiasm had they signed him. At least the Twins can keep Carter in the minors, which odds are is exactly where he'll stay all year. The Mets have to keep Bautista on the 25-man roster. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that the Twins had offered Bautista a MiLB deal.
  4. When the Twins are down one in the 9th with one out and Adrianza and Wilson are due up, I'll take Chris Carter for a shot to tie up the game over Robbie Grossman's shot at drawing a walk. And if a base on balls is someone's thing and Grossman's ability to work a count really floats their boat, Carter isn't too shabby at drawing walks either with a career 11.5% BB rate.
  5. Because this team has no RH bat who they can send to the plate late in the game who has a chance to tie the score with one swing. He doesn't have to be a better overall player than Grossman; they just have no need for Grossman's skill set.
  6. A RH bench bat with power? Works for me. Better than the current roster construction anyway. They could do better, but to this point have done worse.
  7. And pretty much every generation agrees, at least in their own terms. This isn't new, it's annoying for those of us who have spent decades learning the language, but it's not like John Steinbeck and William Shakespeare used the same vocabulary, definitions or even spelling. The olde guard probably thought the younger generations lost all honour when they started dropping silent e's and u's a couple hundred years ago.
  8. Yeah, I usually don't catch my mistakes until the third read. And I'm not re-re-reading them to proof read but instead to admire the masterpiece I created.
  9. In 1987 Tom Brunasky was the #7 hitter most of the season, but they had an off day on May 18th, and I'm nothing if I ain't poetic.
  10. [ I got the loser too: On May 18th of 1991 the Twins #7 hitter was Shane Mack.
  11. I wonder how Molitor keeps it together when he looks at that group and thinks, gee one of these guys is going to be my #7 hitter.
  12. And miss out on all the 3000 hit hoopla?!
  13. About all our Homer Hankys are good for with this offense.
  14. Did Molitor just forfeit? I'd accept that.
  15. Only in the top half of the innings.
  16. Is it just me or does Buxton start every at bat with two strikes before he even steps in the box?
  17. Then she should see that the household needs additional representation.
  18. I don't know, are these Brewer subs good players? Or are the just good against the Twins. Who's this Choi character?
  19. Get yer wife a username and password already. This ain't Augusta, women are allowed here.
  20. Wow, your Arby's sounds pretty fancy.
  21. Plus the rest of the state absolutely loathes Fargo. Grand Forks probably too. Funny, they still rabidly cheer for our college teams.
  22. I guess I don't think Realmuto is a great catcher. He's pretty good, but nowhere near great in my view. I'd say there are only two great catchers in the game and as soon as Posey's inevitable fall off of a cliff occurs, which should be any day now, it will only be Gary Sanchez. I'd trade for Realmuto if it isn't too prohibitive, but I guess I just don't see the urgency now. I was in favor of Garver getting the lion's share of the games behind the plate over Castro to beginning the year. Maybe the idea of the potential of Garver's bat intrigues me more than others.
  23. Maybe wait until your kid is 13 before making your final answer.
